Can't wait to see the time slips and the Pony Boys cryin.

LOL My bad, I don't know enough about Mustangs these days. There has got to be at least one of them you can outrun.
nothing super great to write about Sunday's track outing besides the car drove back on the trailer without issue. it was nasty hit, it rained in between my 2nd and 3rd passes (total of 4 then I packed it up)
couple of 10.4-10.5 passes. couldn't get the car to hook. thinking my drag radials are shot, I have probably 25 passes on them since last may, and the sidewalls have Tiger stripes bad that are still visible/rippled 2 days later. thinking the sidewalls are kicked. I couldn't get a better 60ft than 1.38 with a .25 second ramp in the progressive 50-100%. that pass was a 6.48 eighth mile, I shouldve stayed in it but the driver side windshield gasket decided to exit and smack the driver window, scaring the shit out of me, right as I went thru the eighth. coasted to a 10.8 at 94mph lol.
off the trailer was a 10.40 at 133.4 with a 1.59 60ft, then a 10.46 at 136.8 after adding a little fuel (but a 1.6 60ft) then the 6.48 eighth then final of the day was a 10.56 at 136 again with a 1.65 60ft.
bit disappointed. was hoping to be bottom 10's all day or high 9's. da was 3200ft and water grains over 120

Gained 3 MPH….. it’s making the power.
Have you changed anything on the suspension since (was it) February?
Do you mean the black rubber lacing/welting on the vertical edge of the windshield came loose? I bought the car in August 1994 from a dealer in Pasadena, CA. I was driving it home, brand new, going north in the I-5, probably rolling about 70 MPH in 6th gear, playing with the radio. All of a sudden that same piece came loose at the top and slapped the driver side window…. similar results. Stayed on for the next 29+ years.
lmfao yes that black rubber thing
no suspension I adjusted a little with shock settings sunday but otherwise same as last year. I had a similiar issue towards end of season last year too, the tire was wadding up too much even with higher psihttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...39803a7b18.jpg

spot the difference
testing a theory, found a super cheap nos cheater plate. it is used in dxp limited street class and powers cars well into the 7's. gonna see if it acts better or worse same jets same everything else over the built in spraybar.
initial free flow testing (I have to upload the vids but it's hard to see) is the built in spraybar has 4 larger holes on each side kind of aimed at the runners, but it seems like it hits the wall of each harder especially the end 2 (so 1 and 7) as opposed to the 12500 nos cheater plate, which seems more even overall in the plenum with 8 smaller holes on each side.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...08b68a620d.jpg

Based on zero experience with nitrous, I'm betting on the sixteen individual sprays making more power. It's sure making a fog!
Nolan
welp kind of stuck with the nos 12500 plate now, the jet fitting on the n2o side of the intake custom spraybar was vac leaking slightly, couldnt figure out why, until i went to spin it out to reseal it and here it was snapped in the intake with 1 thread on the fitting holding it in.
fack
Well Fock, I thought I was the only one with that kinda luck.
Nolan
planned for the track Friday night but suddenly my nitrous noid which is only 6 months old decided it no want to open fully. tore it all apart and checked it, couldn't find anything wrong, put it back together still didn't seem like it was flowing right, suspect the 90 degree fitting on the bottom was freezing due to poor machining. swapped it to a straight fitting and all was well again. decided to go sunday.
well that didn't go well. first pass off the trailer I had a small n2o ramp (0.5s at 40-100%) just trying to get the car to leave. I had readjusted the rear shocks and front shocks back to my baseline settings from last year, but the car did the same thing it's been doing, hooking getting out about 20ft and spinning, but this time it was more of tire shake, bad enough it snapped the alternator bracket ear off, broke the alternator fan thingy, and ripped the exciter plug out.
went 10.40 at 135 with a horrible 1.6 60ft and pedaling it in 1st gear.
packed it up and went home. I need to spend the coin for the nice hawks alt/ps relocation bracket but for now I remade the bracket the way it was with a cut up stocker. thinking about it today I'm going to redo that aluminum ear to 1/8" angle iron to prevent flex, and add a bracket to the rear of the alternator to block and also a turnbuckle/heim to the top of the oem bracket to prevent flex. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7439304882.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...79c30582b9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dfe2b07cf0.jpg

Are the rear QA1's still in good shape? They are at least 25 years old, never rebuilt.
sooo how does everyone feel about me cutting the cowl foe a super victor 2 intake??? have one en route
also last track outing was 1 pass and broken alternator bracket/alternator due to tire shake. remade the bracket and reinforced it now both at top so it can't twist and made an L bracket for back of alternator so hopefully that shitshow doesn't happen again.

Thats some big ass bores on that TB, like looking down a toilet bowl.
Accufab Quadraflush. LOL
What elbow are you going to use?
no elbow as it won't clear the hood with the super vic 2. Will be similiar to this when done https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...89961334d0.jpg

dropped it on, gonna require a little bit of rerouting of this and that (map sensor, some wiring, etc), also noticed oil drops at the bottom of the 4 center intake runners right at the gasket. wondering if its wheeping up thru the gaskets under high vacuum. ugh super vic may be going on sooner than later.

You gonna put a piece of pecker wire or something on it to keep anything big from getting sucked down that quadraflush?
quadraflush lmao, I have heard that 8 times everyone thinks it's a carb since Saturday. I have a few buddies running them (a few running duals on 427" LS stuff) no issues. I have a pit filter coming for a circle track car that will be for street

SWEET
US/Strange ring & pinion. Definitely 3.73:1 and made for a 4-series carrier.
G01-888373-4 41-11 B9
Search shows Summit has US Gear part # “01-888373-4”, indicates “Not Available”, and confirms -4 is the carrier series. I bought the complete Strange 12-bolt in early 1999, and I suspect “B9” is a date code for February 1999. My memory is fuzzy on the fact the rear came from the factory with a 3.73 in a 4-series carrier. I didn’t order it that way, just assumed a 3.73 would be installed in a 3-series.
This is confused in my failing memory. Back to 2002 when the TH400 was installed, and a new set of 4.11’s in the 12-bolt, there was some confusion. I thought I told Second Street it was a 3-series. When they opened the rear it was a 4-series, so they had to reorder the 4.11’s and charged me for return shipping on the wrong gears. Current Strange price for a 3.73 is $325. I’m looking for $150.
Still have the free items - pair of HAL/QA1 315# front springs, Two Summit 5-gallon fuel jugs.
And if interested in the NOS bottle brackets or Nitrous Outlet tunnel bottle mount, iOPort camera mount see here:

I'm going to list anything left over on CamaroZ28.com and Firebird Nation.

I have no problem driving up to your place. I want to sell my LT1 Scanmaster. I need to try it out on an LT1 with a stock PCM to make sure it still works. I don’t have access to an LT1. So…… maybe I could try hooking it up to your new Z28??? Just needs 12 volts, a chassis ground and a connection to pin “M” in the DLC.
Just a thought.
Friday October 25th, are you busy?? private rental at island, gonna have about 15ish cars including the bird and osies procharged camaro. that's what I'm prepping for. my work truck has been down and I haven't had time to go to the track to test. did play with the tune some and drove it around with the open accufab. Definitely different feeling now. very linear. still violent on nitrous, oddly though car leaned out a point everywhere, except on spray, so gonna go to an 82 jet in the n2o side

I'll make sure I'm free on 10/25 ! ! !
I'll send you an email. I've found some other misc. tools that I don't need any more, yours if you want them. I'll send you an email with the details.
nothing like planning to make sure the car is ready for friday all weekend and having life get in the way, havent even touched it smh. now to scramble after work in the evenings.
where to start: what a crazy few days. thursday night was a mad thrash. I had to atleast change the back 2 #6 and #8 plugs while the car was on the lift, figured change those 2 do the rest at track from above. Had to load osies camaro in the dark, my fiance had to drive it on the trailer, forgot his trailer + his car = have to jack tongue up crazy high, ripped an exhaust clamp right off. oh well, will fix that at track too. oh yea i had to buy a truck to tow with, blew up my work truck ford ranger, so now i present mustard and relish, 2005 Sierra 2wd 2500HD diesel lol.

Friday morning loaded up the bird, brought a box of br7's, jets, br8's, 3 full bottles (1 Nitrous Express bottle and 2 og nos bottles from @Injuneer, more on that later), all the other chit, the kids, etc. Let them skip school to go to the track under the pretense they MUST help. they agreed.
First 2 passes for me were NA just to shake things down. had the rear shocks 3 clicks from full tight, tires at 18psi both runs, and front shocks at 8 from full tight. 11.41 at 119.8 and 11.39 at 120.1. not bad, short times sucked but it was cold friday morning.
3rd pass, turned the bottle on, had a fresh Nitrous Express bottle in the car with their Lightning .500 orifice valve. 200 jets have been in the car. 18psi again, 1.5 second ramp 0-100% on the nos mini progressive to try to get it out of the hole. car goes 10.16 at 133.6 spinning thru the 60ft. track owner says "hey guys, we are making left lane race tire only and right street tire, shaun spray the shit out of it now". i was DYING LAUGHING in the car.
4th pass went to 19psi cold and 2 clicks from full tight on rear shocks. changed the progressive to 20-100% in 0.8s. crack off a 9.94 at 134.6 with a 1.429 60ft. it did not feel like it spun, but everyone said they heard it squealing hard thru the 60ft, and judging by the 60ft, it did. it felt lazy up top, and i heard a lean pop when i initially went from 2000rpm footbraking to wot on the hit. at this point i jumped in osies car to make a pass to let mine cool off and collect my thoughts on my setup. thats a whole story for his thread
had fiance change bottle, osie checked plugs, they looked great albeit a little lean but safe. well heres where the bottle thing comes into play, now i am on a NOS bottle with NOS hi-flow valve. turned the progressive up to 30-100 in .6 and that was too much for the suspension/track at that time, spun hard and had to pedal. it hit WAY harder. 10.24 at 134.1. this time my datalog was showing leaner than i would like early in the run, it riches up top, but from 5k-6k was a little lean, da actually dropped thru out the day.
Now i went into the tune, added 2.5% fuel in the entire ve table from 80kpa to 100kpa from 2k-8k rpm. also richened the WOT PE target up about a half point, from 12.8 to 12.3 specifically in the 2k-4k rpm range, as thats where i was seeing the lean spike. this is when i do not trust widebands, and where i learned my lesson from last years melted plug incident, wideband was showing very very lean (ie 15-16) but plug was only showing slightly lean, which one to trust? i chose the plug, not the wideband, if i chose the wideband i wouldve had to add like 10% fuel which doesnt sound like much but is alot overall, and probably would have burned shit up again.
well the car definitely liked it, albeit a little too much. put the ramp back to 30-100% over 0.8s, tires at 18psi cold, 2 clicks full tight, let it rip. finally got a 1.40 60ft so went the right direction BUT the car liked it sooo much i spun on the 2-3 SHIFT around the 1/8 mile cone which that was rather exciting for a split second. 9.99 at 137.1. 3mph from a little fuel, car definitely felt crisp. if it would have actually hooked and booked it felt like the fastest pass (beside the 60ft) the car has ever made, i definitely feel the car has a 9.80-9.85 in it after that pass, if it will hook up and leave like last year. it was freighttraining the big end like a boosted car. never felt like that before.
right after that pass i was casually reminded of my speed by the track owner and manager. i told them one more, if it spins im running it out the back, if it dead hooks ill lift at the eighth. well i threw the sink at it and it spun and i had to pedal, so ran it out the back to a 10.11 at 136 lifting around the 1000ft cone.
Really starting to feel like these 20+ year old nos bottles hit better and are more consistent. both my 9 sec passes were with a fresh NOS bottle
Overall I am very happy the car is back to "where it was" from may 2023 when i got my hail-mary 9 second passes, been chasing that for 18 months now. But now i know 2 things for sure, A) i HAVE TO step up my safety game, and B) the car still works. drove on the trailer, made 7 passes, 5 on a healthy dose of nitrous (78 jet so 200), drove back on the trailer, drove around the block when i unloaded it. started up sunday morning at 30 degrees no issue. plugs look great. So now i am looking for a fabricator to either update the current 6pt roll bar to an 8.50 certifiable roll bar (or install a new 8.50 cage) have to put battery in back with kill switch, engine diaper, and do the full driving suit with a hans, so next year i can go for my nhra license and stop getting yelled at LOL. honestly, i know at the speed its not required (150 chute is required) but at 137 and 136 at Island Dragway in this heavy car, i really wish i had a chute, and i definitely would have pulled it. its only 3mph more but slowing down feels a lot more stressful lol.
heres some vids and pics for you guys. The vid from my buddy dave who put on the rental shows my last pass and you can see the car get weird if you zoom in. other vid is all my n2o passes for @JOATMON and @Injuneer
