noice!
Well, after putting it off and not working on my car for over a month I finally got back out to the garage. I ended up replacing the Opti w/ another warranty unit. I went to pull the cap off the Delco and broke 2 of the 4 cap screws clean off on top of realizing the vented nipple on the bottom was broken off. I timed myself and can have the opti off the car in just under 35 mins. I also bolted up my cat for re-inspection and finally put on my LCA's, relocation brackets and Panhard.
All of this was in preparation to make its first (and last) track appearance of the season on Friday. I borrowed a set of 95 Blackbird's DR's and we set off for the track. We both battled issue on the way, he had a battery issue starting off and I had a radiator cap that was giving me trouble. Nothing major. We both passed tech and found a spot to wait for our timed runs.

The first timed run, we lined up against one another for the LT1 grudge race.

I had the left lane and 95 Blackbird had the right. Don't mind the reaction time...I was up late the night before working on the car and found the best place for a nap was at the staging lights. Run felt good until the 2-3rd shift where the trans said NO and began to slip horribly. I had to give a lot to even get he car to move from the slip shack. The next run wasn't for over an hour so I just let it cool hoping for the best. On the next run, I just did a light 4-5 sec burnout to clean the tire but no heat the trans to much. I also backed off a lil from my bias to not give too much braking during the burnout as well. It spun clear through the 60', even with me letting off and getting back in it. Trans stayed with me till the end but only clicked off a 13.9 but at 103.8. Almost 7 mph faster than my previous run. I set my dial in the event my trans held and I hooked for my third and final run in eliminations, of which it did neither. Left fresh rubber at the 60' and blew through the trans around the 1000' mark...14.1 @ 97. I parked it and cheered the only other LTX in the pack on. I will say Marc needed to add the driver mod to his signature. He had a reaction time of .000 and .001 consecutively even with a believed to be failing throwout on his trans. He made it all the way up to the 3rd round of elims before his said issue reared its head again on the 2-3 shift. I considered it to a good night even with out issues.
Yesterday, I drove over to Marc's house to return the DR's and lost 3-4 on the way. I let it cool abit and limped it home. It wouldn't even go up the slight hill in my driveway without getting a running start from the other side of the street. SHE GONE...I have a rear main leak to attend to while its out anyway but that will be awhile while funds are stashed for a real trans and rear.
Well sounds like u had fun with a bunch of headaches... glad u got to get her out a bit. So iirc both ur fbodies have hurt trannies?
Sucks man.... glad it made ocmd also...
Ohhhh... thats a shame tho. Its a clean lookin car.
It's ok on the outside. It has some clear coat issues and a few other minor imperfections on the outside. If that was it I'd keep it but underneath is gone. That's what I get for looking at the car in the dark with snow everywhere. I saw only 1/4 of the carnage underneath. It's was just too abused before I got it.
Like rust and rot???
OK, here's my 3 month update. Car is still broken but at least I have laid a wrench on it. I removed the stock brakes from the front and started to swap over my LS spindles. Still debating on getting the C5 Z06 calipers now or just paint the factory LS calipers for the time being. Gonna throw new ball joints and tie rod ends on while I'm in there. They looked ok but I split a boot on one of the ball joints and at 160k, they're ready for retirement. I just ordered a Racetronix 255 to go in the tank to go with the hotwire kit that I already installed. I'll be doing that when the rear gets swapped to my spare 3.23 unit. Still have quite a few more things that still need to be done but that list should be gone by the dyno day.
