Coming along nice!
And its black. BAZINGA!
Hahaha
@79LT1Monte if I have it ready tonight I would be very shocked. I'm down to just the wiring for the transmission. I took some time while I had the car up in the air to remove all the abandoned fuel lines and exhaust hangers and do some general wire brushing/cleaning/undercoating. I'm hoping for a nice easy install of the transmission control *rolls eyes* so I can at least be ready for next Wednesday.
I have a lot left to finish myself but it looks like I am busy next Wednesday now so I am going to try my best to git r done.
I'm still going to try. If everything goes without a hitch I'll be good to go, but you know that ain't gonna happen
Well hopefully we can get them both together and get a few good runs in tomorrow night, keep me posted on your progress and I will do the same.
Don't know how your progressing but I am just now getting started on mine
Hahaha I just gave up on mine. If I would have went with a manual valve body I would be out chirpin gears and pullin brodies by now.
Problem I'm having is this, my accel dfi has a 5 volt reference signal like the lt1. With the tps sensor off the tb I can watch it go from 0-5v while manipulating it with a screwdriver. On the throttle body, my closed throttle voltage is around 1 volt. Wot is around 3.5. Not a problem when it was a standalone because you can set the voltage parameters for closed/wot angle and it figures the rest. But the lt1 pcm controlling the transmission sees ~4.5V as wot, not 3.5. So I'm a little skeptical to try it out like that. I have the dfi 5v references tied together like accel calls for them to be. I'm not sure if I've got a sensor pulling more voltage than its supposed to and dragging the overall voltage down or what. I've considered just tying in BOTH the dfi and lt1 pcm reference voltages together to give them a boost. I dunno, kinda stumped right now and just going over my notes on wiring. If by chance you do get yours done I will push my pile off the rack and load up dad's car to adjust the pinion angle and peek at a dragging front brake (all it lacks to being ready to rock) and come out to play.
Sounds good, I think we are going either way. I believe we have 4 cars going not counting mine. I got my pump, sending unit, lines, and hot wire kit installed along with a new tank tonight. Button up a few things tomorrow and we just might make it. Attachment 29644
Damn. Maybe I can sneak out of work early enough to find a way to make it.
Do it!
I'm seriously thinking about just putting a stock harness in the car and running the lt1 PCM on a 2 bar tune. Either that or I'm going to go with that paddle shift idea. It goes without saying that the monte will not be ready tonight
Couple finished rear end pics. Worked on electrical stuff tonight. Hoping to get it installed and at least test fired to see if my wiring is correct tomorrow

Lookin good man...
What he said^^^
Did you get your stuff yesterday?
And been out at all this year to the track?
It's alive..
Testing to commence tomorrow
Cant wait!!!
Took it out tonight to break in the rear end. Just drove it up and down my lane a few times (QP recommended 3 or 4 heat cycles which consist of driving at low speeds for 3 or 4 miles at a time. I chose 1 mile and a launch off my new concrete bridge. That'll put some heat in it lol. Aside from that I have wiring/tuning things to line out but it's looking good though. If all goes well it should be (re) painted and shootout ready in 2 weeks
Wow...thays great. Is it a built trans or straight out of a truck? Did u do a bigger stall?
Yes I went with an edge 3400 converter. Its just a junkyard transmission with the HD2 shift kit in it. We'll see how it holds up
Awesome... that should be interesting. But they are a strong trans in stock form... rite?
Yes they're super strong. . Basically they are a turbo 400 with an overdrive. Hey chris does that trans have the return line for the cooler go into the case by the feed line for the cooler or back on the case close by the tail shaft housing?
It's a 96 trans and has the cooler lines together in the front. In stock form they are supposed to be good to 450hp. With the HD2 shift kit it brings it up to 750hp)
Well it's a "transmission reprogramming kit". By the look of it, it moves several hydraulic circuits to different points. I guess that makes it apply the bands/clutches harder? Not sure but there's a lot of success stories out there to support it.
Just be careful of hard parts, thats what limits you to round 750hp. Otherwise, for what it costs you, these things are awesome.
I should have tossed a billet input shaft in mine but playing with fire is fun
Very interesting... really lookin fwd to TESTING.
Got the car out on the highway this evening. Seems to shift good from what I could feel at low speeds. Hard to tell what's going on at the higher rpms. Tried out launching it on a concrete bridge and the tires hooked pretty nicely. I think if I found a way to mellow out the blast of boost right out of the hole it would hook a lot better. Tried again on some asphalt and it just spun. Using scan 9495 it's commanding all 4 gears properly. Only thing I'm not seeing it the tcc but because it's an 80e his program may not pick it up. I'll have to look into that a bit more.
Awesome... nice firm shifts?
What do u mean hard tomtell at higher rpms? Like something is not right???
Like massive wheel spin lol
I was also trying to get a good datalog with my new crank pulley to see how much psi i picked up but when I got home I found a rubber cap blocking off one of the blower taps split in half. I have a feeling this is going to be a pita to tune
Just because the Street Outlaw guys dead hook on the street doesn't mean you can
I think you will hook it just fine on a well prepped track.
Hahaha yea those "streets" are prepped better than most tracks I've seen.
Are u still runnin a ms3?
No I'm running accel dfi. HOWEVER, I believe I will be switching to another platform if this one doesn't work out with piggybacking the transmission. Shouldn't be a hard sell. It's a great system if you're only controlling an engine or even an engine with just torque converter lockup. I just don't see many reports of guys running computer controlled trans with the dfi. The ms3 now has a "megashift" board that will fully control a trans. We'll see what happens
Ok.. I remember puttin u in touch with chris a long time ago about the ms cause he was runnin one in his 93. Btw did u know the owner/designer of the ms systems lives 20 min from my work...
No but that may come in handy in the future. The guys that have designed the ms system are friggin geniuses
