Not at all. As a leader I am just stressing that I have faith in my guys and I will always support them no matter what until the PROCESSES that we have in place as a society show something different.
In this case, had WILSON been found guilty, or even of any internal wrong doing... I would understand what the Chief is doing. But he was cleared. The story cleared him... the courts cleared him, then his own PD turns on him... that LAST part is where my problem is....
Not about us and them... simply being a leader and having faith and supporting the men/women below me. Like I was saying, I am one of 2 Field training Officers we have in our dept. I have washed out many a new hire in the past 13 years. The ones that dont wash out...are there because they have shown me and proven to me that they are the men (we have no women) who I can support because I tested them... I trained them, and I have their backs on their decision making.
I know our system has flaws... but it is the system that we have. I believe that we have our PROCESSES, whther internal, or courts or whatever process for a reason... and if the process clears them... then that is answer enough.
I hope that makes sense.... and i do take this stuff a bit personally...and as stupid as it sounds, I wash the newbs out that wont make it because I wanna know that when I or any other officer need them at that ONE MOMENT that could make all the differnece that they would be there.
We trust our lives to each other, and our families trust our partners of the same thing. Its a bond that is easy to explain when the situation happens, but hard to explain when nothing serious is happening.....
Hope that all makes snese... I kinda rambled...
