Getting plates for the Corvette tomorrow... Been about 15ish years since it has seen a road other than the driveway and neighborhood streets.. Nervous...
Almost went to Ferguson tonight to look at an 93 Lt1 car, then the guy had a New York number, then he would only send pictures through an app, then the title wasnt in his name..... No diggity
So it is a 1972 Corvette that my grandfather bought back in 85. It was a pile of junk when he got it. It used to be light blue, I never saw it as the car was painted in the 90s. I was born in 95.

It is a semi high optioned car. Base 350. Has A/C that doesn't work lol, disc brakes, detachable hardtop, power steering I believe as well. The guy my grandfather bought it from, had another 72, but it was a LT-1. My grandfather told me the car was so mint and clean, you could take a white latex glove and wipe the undercarriage and the glove would be spotless. Pictures really don't do this car justice.. The last time the car was out, I was maybe 3? My brother, my grandfather and I went out for the Woodward Dream Cruise. The car is a 2 seater.. my brother and I sat in one seat lol. A cop looked at us, smiled and let us go. He could tell we were having fun. Nice cop. Well we didn't make it far lol. If you lived in Michigan, there is a city called Pontiac. Well Pontiac wasn't a great city 15 years ago lol. In fact, it was very bad. Well the brakes went out on the car, and lets just say I cried like a little girl for 30 minutes while we sat in a church parking lot with no street lights at 10 pm. That was the last time the car saw any real main roads. It was scary you know, lol we talk about it today. I remember it clear as day, never will forget it. We should have gotten robbed lol. I can understand why he has been hesitant to take it out. The brakes were fixed, it was the master cylinder. Been a long time, and I'm really happy he is going to take it out this year.
This was the car that got me into cars. I love the way this car sounds, shakes the house when you start it up. Hell, it's bringing a tear to my eye reminiscing about the old days (I know I'm not old). Older Corvettes are my favorite cars. I know i know, LTx LTx, but I'd sell my car if i had a chance to get a 1970 454 Corvette convertible. I'll never get one as they are upwards of 70k nowadays ha. I know so much about early C3s.. not even funny
Last year we took it around the block, because we had a vacuum problem. It was a god damn nightmare. Gramps let me take it around the block once.. Even though it has like 240 hp, it surprising pulls hard for a 43 year old car. :D
Like I said, this car and my cousins 383 were the reason I got my camaro. Hell man, the memories I've had with this car. I'm straight up tearing up and I'm not even embarrassed. Just going to be happy when I see my grandparents drive away in the car hopefully today.
Sorry for the long response :P
No need to appologize... exactly why i asked. Thanks for sharing man. Let us know how it goes...
That's a beautiful 'Vette! No doubt it's numbers matching. Easy to see on the stamping pad just below the passenger head where it meets the block.
It is a numbers matching car. The only things that have been replaced are A/C parts, vacuum lines and relays, and it had a color change. The only way to tell the car was originally blue is to look at the stamp on the door. Every body panel was removed for painting.. Was not cheap I am told. In my opinion, I believe that is the nicest example of a 72 Corvette. I've seen plenty of C3s, and I can say that none of them have compared to this car. I went to the GM heritage museum up here in Michigan. Their C3 wasn't that great.
Funny thing is, my grandpa really didn't want to buy this car. He always wanted one. He told me he looked at plenty of cars. He didn't want to spend the $2500 on the car then. My grandma forced him to buy the car lol.
Got the plates. I think these plates fit the car well.. Don't get me started on my visit to SOS...
