i was told by more than one person with rear mount kits that long tubes lose exhaust velocity and heat, thus making less power than would be made on the same setup and shorties/cast manifolds/rearmount. the one guy on here has a rearmount firehawk and he said it as well. i get bored alot though, and enjoy being different. i wouldnt mind trying a rearmount with a 240+k mile hotcammed longblock. whats it gonna do? blow up? HAHAHAHAH
Regarding long tubes vs manifolds, velocity is not an issue. Air goes in air goes out. It gets ran together at the y and goes to the turbo. Only thing that affects velocity is the diameter of the piping TO the turbo. Heat loss from long tubes vs manifolds COULD be an issue, however sts sizes their turbos differently to account for the difference in density from the hotter exhaust that a front mount encounters vs the cooler air that a rear mount encounters. The debate that typically occurs is " I have an sts kit, will long tubes help it pick up more HP?" That answer is no. There is no benefit to running long tubes vs manifolds on a rear mount. You're saying, I have long tubes, so it won't be worth it to run an sts kit. The simple solution would be (if you are convinced that long tubes are going to hinder performance in some way) is to sell them and request the buyers manifolds.
