im happy on how it turned out its good enough till I have the other motor all done but that will probley be next winter plan this winter is get the car running and and enjoy it in the spring, I still need to pull the timing cover off and get that cleaned up and leave it the cast alumin finish, the water pump will also be cleaned up and painted red as well with the fins polished and T-housing Im goin to polish it up or try too lol, The dis Im painting red as well to make it look like a msd unit. its coming along slowly but its getting there, once I get the new motor Ill be putting a order in for the 24x kit and once I have that Ill be placing an order on the harness. still a ways away. stay tuned.

yea just got get a few lil things like a cold air intake, wires, thinking about replacing the coil with a msd blaster and control box. and just gotta finger out how to by pass the coolant pipe that gose from the heads to the throttle body but ill im sure ill figure it out when it comes to putting it in the car.
-
last 2 days I have been working on my engine harness and I had finsihed extended the wires I need to before the engine gose in place, I had loomed most of the harness but I didnt have any 1/4" and 1" wiring loom which Ill pick up tomorrow after work and this weekend put the motor and trans together and put it on the k-member and put her in the car. also I need to remove my rear bump stops to clear my z06 vette wheels which were resting right againtst them.

sorry for the bad pics my iphone cover lens to dirty and my other cam is MIA.

Were they resting on the bump stops while the car was sitting on all fours with the engine and everything in it? I can't imagine what your ride quality will be like without rear bump stops - my stock ones fell off and bottoming out was horrible. I went with polyurethane replacements that were actually made for Jeeps.
-
Well i had it jacked up one side at a time so the rear diff had one side up which was hanging and i dont have the motor in the car yet, the rear wheels were resting againt the stop when i put it on and the wheel wasnt sitt flash on the rear drums these are stock zo6 so i know the offset is different but i have rear some putting spacers but that to make it flash with the quater, i may have to try with a the weight of the car on the diff with jacks and see how that is.
-
well today i did about 2 hrs worth of work on my motor.
pulled motor off stand, pulled transmission off dolly, installed motor and trans dragged k-memeber into shop from outside by my self, installed motor to k-member after finding out I had the pass side motor mount up side down lol, pulled the lt1 spindles off and installed the ls1 spindles and motor is ready to go in the car, now the plan was for this weekend it may still happen but more like not, my brother was replacing a steering gear on a car so its on the hoist, parts store gave him the wrong one and the right one wont be in till monday and the other side my dad has something goin on so if not this weekend in 2 weeks i should have it installed, just dont like putting it off cause its been snowing on and off here the last few days and would like this in before too much snow is on the ground. but on to some pics.

well last night I got some work done on the car, I jacked the rear for the car and put the weight of the car on the rear axles to put the vette wheels on to clear the bump stops, and of course I had another problem the stupid hud flange for the rear axle wasnt goin into the center of the wheel so I cleaned the hub area up a bit and the center of the wheels and slipped right on, but now I need to make more room in the wheel area cause the tire is almost touching the frt inner tub, so that will be fixed when its up on the hoist, picked up some brake lines and trans cooler lines yesturday as well, I was goin to go with the braided lines but Ill swapp them out later on after I get this car on the road and enjoy a bit. So this stage of the build its stage 1 lets get her running, stage 2 of the build will be, modding, stage 3 will be body and paint.
-
well here is a pic of the car with the z06 wheels I still need to trim the bump stop so it clears when the diff hangs also do the bfh mod to the frt inner fender. Im thinking of runner 18x10.5 wheels up front so I could run the ctsv brackets and also help with the handling but that may be next year.

below is a fuse block I got from work for my wire tuck, Im planning on run the inside fuse block off this block and under hood block as well i think it ll clean the wires up behind the dash nicely.

started working on the car at 1 in the afternoon and just taking the v6 k-member I had a fight my impact wouldnt bust the boltes loose so I had to do it all by hand, once I had that out I swapped over the upper control arms and Installed the trans am frnt shocks, and laid the wiring harness on the motor to make it easy after the motor is installed. I love having a hoist doin this kind of job makes it so much easyer doing it by ur self, I had no help with the install.

YEs I Know its dirty lol, Didnt have time to run it over to the car wash it was late at night and the next day we had a big dump of snow.

the hole in fire wall worked out perfect, the harness runs right behind the intake and you cant really see where it runs to keeping the engine bay nice and clean of the wires, I wasnt happy how the wiring in the injector area turned out so im goin to look into make rail covers like the lt4 covers but I will end up wrapping them in carbon fiber something different.

I got the rad in place and im goin to run it for now till I can get a new rad to flush mount it into the rad support and Im go to relocate the factory fuel lines to clean the engine bay up I was goin to order a kit for relocating the lines but why spend money when this is a free mod to clean up the engine bay plus the stock lines will last longer. Got the car on all fours and before I had put it on the ground I had to trim up the pass side bump stop to clear the wheel but the driver side was a different story I ended up cutting out the driver side stop and hammer in the little bump to clear the wheel, I for see adjustable suspension parts for this car soon, Im liking the rear mudflaps on the wide tire I think I may just keep them on the car.
-
Nice dude what's the running eta?
-
well Im hoping to have it running by the end of jan would be nice, right now im just penny pinching hard core, I still need to pick up o2 senors which are like 160 for the pair, still gotta get a set of plugs and wires which are really the only thing I really need to get running that I can think of lol, I still have lots to do before i fire it up mainly the wiring of the fuse block and mount behind the dash and hope to god my engine wiring turn out ok fingers crossed lol. Id like to drive it this summer and than next winter probley another tear down for paint and maybe a 6spd swap but well see how I like the auto this summer plus Ill be back in constrution this spring so I should have better pay meaning more fun parts for the car lol.

before is started to play with the wiring dont look so bad.
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...d/IMG_0044.jpg
than again this is how it turned out lol
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...d/IMG_0039.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...d/IMG_0040.jpg
cleaned all the glue and bulk head connector from the wiring what a mess that was.
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...d/SDC10002.jpg
this is the igntion harness which was labled and removed from the under hood fuse box awaiting a new fuse box, the old fuse box only had the 2 injector fuses, 2 hdlp door fuses, cooling fan relay and fuse left so I figure I would upgrade to the newer mini fuse style and with some extra fuses for things like elec water pump and exhaust cut outs which can be added to the fuse box later on, Im also goin to be ordering a vat by pass box so I can remove the vats from the car instead of having to send out my pcm to have its tune plus when I do my 24x swap that pcm will be tuned with the vats off. I just wanna clean up as much wiring as I can while I have my dash out. stay tuned.
-
here is how the old fuse box sits after I had removed it from the harness
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...d/SDC10003.jpg
and since I dont have a garage at home to work in and i have no power or heat in my 12x12 shed the entry room to my house is my work place as u can see in the pic below.
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...d/SDC10004.jpg
hopfully this weekend I can get the headlight harness put on the car and ready to be extended most of the wiring will go down the driver car side of the in the fender rail to hide all the wiring along with the hood release cable.

Finial update
Well it saddens me to say that i had put the car up for sale and this weekend maybe the last weekend i have the car, i have a guy coming down to look at the car and is very intrested in the car. I dont wanna have to sale it but being the only one working in my house hold is kind hard with 3 kids and a house payment. I plan to be back in a f body again down the road. Ill still be lurking around the forum checking out the builds.
-
Awww man that sucks... but its totally understandable. Well Being of the Family comes first.....
-
It breaks my heart to sale it cause i had my kids help me with it and i was so close to firing it up, if i was still at my spring job it be a differen story and i wouldnt have to sale but down the road lt1 fbody are becomeing cheaper to buy here and maybe ill get my hads on a 96 fbody i like to stick with the lt1s over the ls1
-
Well guys i couldnt do it, i couldnt sale the car i called the guy up and told him its not for sale any more, i dont know what it is but something is telling me not to sale the car, i just keep thinking of when i had my kids helping and playing around on the car while i tryed to work on it. It just means more to me it part of the family so stay tuned for some updates
-
Well that's totally understandable man can't wait to see her running
