Well... on my drive home tonight I decided... we are keeping the sport. Its more her size, and easier for her to drive. That rust is really a deal breaker for me... esp since we have recently found some comin up on the opposite side.... thanku for everyone who took the time... even if there was more ball busting than anything.

I believe they use cinder and salt in PA. Pretty much a salt mix and it destroys paint and metal over time.

Good choice, You would have been chasing that rust for the life of the vehicle, and not just in that spot. Brake lines power steering tyranny lines ect.
I'd do the trade and let them trade the explorer in. Reason being, it it's the v6 in thinking of, the timing chain guides are notorious for failure and it's a motor pull to replace. Nd it starts with a misfire.
