A cast cap would be weaker than a billet strap across top, so it does make sense. Especially if motor was assembly and you don't wanna deal with drilling/tapping etc.

It is pretty cool , i wish i would have taken a few quality pictures of it before he re installed the oil pan the other day.
Well 4 bolt converted factory blocks are handling upwards of 850hp so I don't understand his fear
