ok well i put some bolts in the yoke and used a pry bar and this nut will not budge at all. I used a breaker bar and sprayed with PB. Any other options i can do? Should I buy a electric impact wrench? Called up the chevy dealer and they said it would cost me no more than $700 if i supplied all the bearings for the rear.:face_shocked:

I assume that it makes that noise driving under load? Did it change under power vs slowing down? I assume the wheel bearings looked good? Did the pinion bearings have some preload on them or was there play in the bearings. Was there excessive backlash between the ring and pinion? There wasn't a stuck rear caliper was there? Just trying to narrow down the possibilities.

well when i accelerate it get louder, when i shift into each gear the louder the noise is. I included a video at the first post. I already checked the wheel bearings and for a stuck caliper. The backlash seemed fine and of course i didnt measure it though. and there wasnt play at all in any of the bearings. The prev owner said it started happening after he had the pinion seal replaced which make me thing 1. they torqued the nut wrong or maybe didnt put the right additive or none at all in the diff.

question. I purchased the rear rebuild kit from TRacing and with the pinion and carrier bearing do I need to pack them with grease or install them with none>?

ok I just recieved my complete rear end install kit from ratech. I am in a hurry to get this put together and I was wondering what would be best. Should I just replace all of the bearings and leave it at that or replace the cone that goes on the pinion bearing also. If I do that will it throw of my backlash even if im using the same shims??

if you replace the bearings you deff. want to replace the races also.

ok well crap where can I get a tapered cone then cause I cant find one at summit or autozone unless I can use something else.
