Yea around here if you run around with liability or comp with $500 deductible you'll go broke. Too many deer loose
I try to explain to people to ALWAYS hit the deer if its not 100% that they can avoid it without hitting something else. Comp being no fault is way better than collision which will most likely asign fault if hitting something else while avoiding the animal.

Not to mention the peril you can put yourself or others in when you go cranking on the wheel at highway speeds. We have had several deer related deaths around here due to people trying to avoid hitting them. Its not worth it.

A funny statistic that I was taught in crash school was to accelerate through a deer to cause it to clear the car, rather than land on the windshield and hurt the occupants of the car. I had a fatal accident once, where the deer kicked the driver to death through the windshield.. It was horrible.. BLOOD everywhere.
