well I was having problems with my alternator so I finally took her to a shop and had it converted to be a single wire and it works fantastic ... today I took it for my very first test drive out on the roads. I knew it would be smart to stay close to the house in case anything were to happen. So I went about a mile down the road turned got on the highway probably got up to 45 50 miles an hour and I noticed a little bit of steam and then water droplets on my windshield. so I got off at the next exit after approximately one half a mile got off the highway and stopped hopped out to take a look.
Steam was pouring out around the water pump area. I found out one of the plugs I made had come out partially so thankfully it's an easy fix. I don't believe the motor got too hot. it didn't smell hot.
So after waiting for about half an hour knowing I had little to no water I drove the rest of the way home which was thankfully less than a half a mile.

Also on my short test drive the transmission got quite hot. I'm running a pretty good size transmission cooler because I have a 4000 stall. Well the transmission got up to around 240 degrees and oddly enough my transmission cooler was completely cold. The car drove pretty good before leaking water out of course. so I'm not sure what's going on with the transmission.

They were purchased used and there were no caps but thank you I would have noticed that

Thats a good leak there. Take a line off the cooler put it in a bucket and start it up. To see if any fluid is pumping. Just for a bit. Not the return line anyways good luck.

Got the water pump properly plugged now time to put water back in and figure out the trans temp issues.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3519efdeae.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0c01c6b54a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bfde9caa47.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b41c341e9e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c9d7395e60.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d642757a25.jpg

Well now I'm going to be working on figuring out my transmission temperature gauge. I replaced the temperature sensor I still have the same problem.

Are the temp sensor and gage matched?
... on my tablet using Taptalk
Weird.
... on my tablet using Taptalk
Yeah I was hoping that your sender was for a deferant gage. Like a 230 deg or something
... on my tablet using Taptalk
Well I still haven't figured out the trans temp gauge issues .... but I have got the matching water temp and volts mounted ...
.... I've been working lots of 12-hour days and weekends trying to get some money put together for a hybrid ford 8.8 rear axle.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b7d251e23c.jpg

Well after a fair amount of overtime I now have enough to get the fabrication work done from TNT performance for my hybrid Ford 8.8... today I got the rear axle into the garage and opened it up to see how the inside looked. To my surprise the fluid actually looked really good.
A little bit of rust on the ring and pinion but I think I'm going to try and reuse the gears cuz they appear to be in good shape.

Well today I tore down and cut the Ford 8.8 to get it ready for tnt Fabrications to put together my hybrid rear axle.
After taking a part of the ring and pinion look like them pretty good shape.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0e45b0e8c6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...cc383aefb2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2ecf2ccff0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4fc5f82aa1.jpg

Well today got some minor stuff done with the firebird. I got the tail lights fixed. Turns out the bulbs were in backwards some how ... I don't remember messing around with them but figured that out so the tail lights work as the should now. Also some of y'all may remember the access hole / trap door I cut to get to the trans lines ... well I got that covered up and a little rust hole too. Some old aluminum siding and sheet metal screws ... fixed! #beaterbirdhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a9624c4257.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3e8802b538.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ab1c66e562.jpg

Btw post number 666 now I have to make another post
Also today I ordered some mufflers had these in the past and they sounded so good. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d5c079d7fb.jpg
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Well got the mufflers on and it's way better ... still loud but better.
Also did the first burn out with the rebuild and th400. Still has the 2.73 gears at the moment. Hybrid 8.8 with 4.10s is next.

How did the 8.8 rear turn out and how much did you end up having in it?
Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Well ... did the first oil change since it's been on the road at a hundred miles it was hard to tell how it looked because I assembled the motor with moly grease so it made the oil grey ish but she seems to be doing okay. Figure it out I'm getting 6 miles per gallon currently. And I think it's because the car doesn't go into 3rd gear until 83 miles an hour according to my GPS. Needless to say it needs tuned better than what I can do.
Does anybody know if Ed Wright still does carburetor stuff?

Well I picked up some new goodies .... got my rear axle housing back from TNT Fabricationshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...977017f86f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e3fc02f6e3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ad3b434e1c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a61ab67d7a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dd3e660895.jpg

And today in the mail one of the things I've been wanting for years finally showed up ... only had to wait about four and a half months to get it.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a731f3cfe3.jpg

New tag on and racking up some miles.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d70c578905.jpg

Well once the axle shafts get in I'll get the Ford 8.8 hybrid under the car ... I'm sure the 4.10s will feel so much better than these 2.73s with 28" tires and a th400.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3fd6fa4182.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2523f080a2.jpg

Well I decided to get rid of the flimsy nitrous bottle brackets and the crossbar I mounted between the rear seat belt brackets and now I have a nice Billet aluminum dual bottle bracket with a heater panel under each bottle.
Yes that is 2 15 lb nitrous bottles giving me 30 lb of nitrous on tap. Why might you ask because I like to party.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3bb4f13f82.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...47f20055e7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ee04e5d3a1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d381cb9374.jpg

Well I did a much better job than the sheet metal screws that were in the back holding in the bottle bracket.
Drilled holes so that 5/16 nuts would fall in then welede large washers to the nuts and the washers to the body ... making the nuts recessed.
Now I can be confident that when I have my dual 15lbs bottles in the firebird they are not going any where

Sheet metal even with inserts is not something I would trust to hold 30# behind my head.
