getting the tune closer. having an issue where 2nd to 3rd wont shift at wot. never had that before

Been a while. So short redacted version, 2 different tuners, both open loop speed density and maf/closed loop, car ran like shit. It ran best but still wasnt all there on the OLSD tune, and was the worst on the MAF tune.
Osie got kind of twisted one night while we were hanging out in my garage, and ordered the efi connection holley terminator x max direct fit kit.
110% no bullshit plug and play, have to hardwire 6 wires total, and they are all hot or ground.
I took a 24x LS base file and changed the nrcessary stuff like firing order injector stuff etc. I added some timing to the base and took away 10% fuel right away, and we started the car. It lit off faster than it ever has, even obd1 opti. the vid below is after about 5 whole seconds of run-time. shouldve video'd it after 10 mins of the tune learning and me moving just fuel around. never surged or stalled out, or even dipped stupid low or anything. once it was warm i had it revving really snappy and returning to idle/idling very well with about 2% max correction, no fireballs or knock etc
Now we are going to start installing the procharger again, this time just lower boost. just want the car to be driveable and fun again. I could always put some spray on it to make it party

Hey, Thanks for posting this. I have a bunch of questions about the system. I'll try to figure most of it out on the Holley and EFI Connection websites, then pick your brain.
I'm really interested in making the change but I don't have the spare cash right now. I just spent a assload on a building, a truck and a golf cart. Gotta save up for it.
Nolan
questions in regards to what? give it a spark table, tell it what injectors you have and cubic inch/firing order, and start car lol its that easy. especially if you buy the kit from efi connection. the harness fits better than the stock harness, and plugs right in.
Or if you get the 3.5in screen, you answer like 5 questions and bam, it will start/idle/drive like a dream.
Thank ya'll.
gotta redo some vacuum lines, add a breather to be cool like SNM, and update tune to 3 bar maphttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0cce674546.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...51973c79b2.jpg

A breather? What for?
to be cool like you papa. dont feel like running anything to the inlet of the blower yet, as that may change
and also to stir more shit in the fb group [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787] i love my haters [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Headed to Talladega for Spring race week. I'll catch up with progress on these cool projects when I return.
Later, Nolan
hope you had a good trip.
got the car out for its maiden boosted holley voyage. this thing is rowdy, and so far the holley is handling it well. car already scared the shit out of me rolling into boost. its running hot though, got up to 210 (83 outside) so that kind of sucks. Also have to add a breather on passenger valvecover, but gonna end up going with a puke tank.

Hey thanks, we had fun. The Camaro is sounding great. I'd like to see a video of the scary part when it goes under full boost, hint.
I'm chomping at the bit to bring mine to the dragstrip time trials. Just gotta get feeling better first.
Nolan
not much to post about this one yet, osie changed the stat and redid the intercooler piping a little to eliminate some of those long rubber elbows the procharger kit uses. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...86dfcee6cc.jpg

Looks great, blower is tucked in so neat you can't see it in the photos.

Alright where to start with this fiasco. So thursday night we load up, rip an exhaust clamp off the y pipe, nearly take out the bumper (damn this car is low).
Friday go to back it off the trailer at Island and figured ill leave it on the trailer ramps, chock it, fix exhaust clamp. well when i go grab the new clamp out of my bag, i see antifreeze on the trailer....waht the f**k. so my fiance and osie start searching searching searching. well the rad came with a level sensor plug, and osie didnt have a level sensor anymore, so we both totally overlooked it and realized thats where it is leaking from. Advance auto had one in stock about 20 minutes away from island, so we sent my fiance and daughter to get the sensor, a gallon of 5050, and a small drain pan. figured we will swap it quick when she gets back on the fly, top off, go thru tech.
well thats exactly what we did, i made 2 motor hits then she got back, swapped it with minimal loss, then went thru tech. tech for whatever reason gave me a hard time about the car having a 6 point with stock seats and belts, even though they were the ones that made us put a 6 point in it in 2019 and said after we are 10.0 good with the stock seat and belt. i threw a little bit of sarcasm at the tech guy, because the other tech guy said i was good, this guy said no, looked at other tech guy and he walked away. whatever.
go immediately up to make a pass, tires were at 18psi cold, these are 275/50/15 et street SS tires, so a 26" setup. this car is a street car thru and thru, long torque arm (relocated) lowering springs, koni sport adjustable shocks for handling, etc. NOT a drag car. yes i have been 10.78 in it on a 1.39 60ft, but i feel that may have been luck.
left off idle and immediately hazed the tires hard enough to have to fully lift, ugh. got back in it and ran it out the back. about 2/3 track start smelling a hint of burnt oil. bring it back to the pits and get the below slip, then see oil dripping. appears the driver side valvecover shifted back and since there are no posts due to the scorpion rocker arms, it allowed it to a) leak and b) the bolts were hitting the rockers (could hear the squeak). little annoying. just loaded it back on the trailer as i was over this car that day, and didnt want to stress out or risk wrecking it.
funny thing is it did this pass with just a basic street tune in the holley, with 6k rpm shift points. lol i think its making alot more steam now.

coming up on a year, crap. life has been wild on both sides for both osie and i. the kids keep joking about breaking "pop-pops" car out and bringing it to my house to go over. well i think i am gonna do just that. rental is coming up again, my car is too fast, but this one has some room in the 10's still. think i am going to grab it, temporarily throw in 5pt harnesses/the og corbeau seat thats in the passenger side of my car into this, get some tuning on it, throw my wheels and tires on it, and see what happens at the rental
brought the car to my house yesterday, gonna start messing with it during the week. have 3 weekends until the rentalhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0593e77742.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cbd71faf2c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7d707f3e19.jpg

Boost and juiced sounds serious!
Tell me more about your ramp lift, haven't seen that before. Last I remember you were jacking up on cribs.
Nolan
i have had them for about a year, there are some pics in my cars thread with the firebird on them. called "kwik-lift", company actually shut down during covid. i got it used but new for $1000, new they were almost 2k. has 2 crossbars to jack up with bottle jacks and do suspension work, and has a rear crossbar that you put a floor jack under and jack up, then flip down 2 legs and the whole car is up approximately 30" off the ground.
works for quick maintenance items (plugs/oil changes/maybe drop a transmission/suspension adjustments) but i will still put a car on the cribs to drop a rear or a k member/motor.
Guess I focused on the car and not the ramps LOL That's a cool setup.
Nolan
long day today. first order of business was the corbeau out of my car and into this car, with new racequip camlock harnesses and jegs sfi steering wheel quick release.
after that osie had bought a procharger bellmouth to install. well it said it fit on prochargers website, but it wouldn't fit over the inlet. him and my daughter worked on the nitrous nozzle in the elbow, but I think we are gonna change to a single dry nozzle instead of a capped off tnt wet nozzle.
@Injuneer using one of your ole NOS solenoids along with 90° hose. this car is violent too. wow. the inlet ended up falling off and requiring us to cut off the side that was supposed to slip over and install a 4" silicone coupler. that resolved that. made 10psi at 4800rpm......lol
we still have to set up the nitrous stuff but awaiting parts.
ill edit a vid later and post it up. hope everyone is wellhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e7cc3b6596.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3b173f09b7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...477251a79c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5e6ce7d99c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...677ad69953.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6336632ebb.jpg

Off topic, but related. Do you still have the OEM passenger seat out of the Formula? Thinking of trying to sell the complete set of seats to raise some spare change.
Glad you found a use for the Corbeau…… I liked that seat, except the back of my helmet rested hard against upper head restraint. Was better on the street.
Looking forward to seeing this beast run on the track.

minor update:
finished solenoid mounting, waiting for some parts to come in (nitrous bottle bracket/pressure transducer/fitting/holley i/o expansion harness/switches.
I noticed a weird chirp the other day when running it up and down the road and figured id check belt tension. noticed procharger belt was walking off crank pulleyˇˇˇˇ wtf!
last night took the belts off and found i made a mistake 2 years ago: I put the 3 shims that are supposed to be between the procharger pulley spacer/balancer on as washers under the bolt heads. whoops. balancer was loose on the hub, and pulley spacing was off by .180"
already corrected it but I ordered a new procharger belt as a preemptive. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4435bcadce.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0c2365e0a0.jpg

a little noise for your viewing pleasure:
https://youtube.com/shorts/T1JKGhIRZ...Zevd5aQtTHW_vK
been a rough week, got sick and didnt get much done last weekend. but throughout the week ran the line, ran the purge line, used @Injuneer og nitrous filter, Amazon bottle bracket installed, system pressure tested and purge tested with my motor bump button [emoji1787] ran lowdoller motorsports transducer to feed nitrous pressure to holley via ac pressure sensor input.
tomorrow finish up system via wiring to holley, adjust passenger rear shock, confirm panhard is set right
gotta get some switches too. I like how its kind of hidden. at first glance I dont feel like you catch it. I hope spray helps this like im dreaming it will.
hope everyone is well!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...411e7c72c2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3d498e856d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...119bd5729d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c5acfc3186.jpg

Pressure input thru AC random sensor, to feed a Holley.
bromygod.jpg
what? it's not thru a random sensor. just removed ac pressure input from that pin on holley i/o and changed to nitrous pressure/scaled.
car does not have ac. its how it comes pin mapped from efi connection.
what's the problem?

My NOS bottle brackets would have looked good in there…… 😇
Still gotta empty out the garage.
Attachment 40763
finally remounted the seat 3x. the corbeau bracket/slider was too tall. i removed the sliders and made it fixed position, was still a bit high, i proceeded to cut the feet off and then it was TOO LOW. had to use spacers and space it back up again. got the nitrous wiring completed and tied into the holley.
one thing that i am worried about is traction with this car. it has a long torque arm (lazy on separation) and lowering springs/koni shocks. do i disconnect the front sway bar to try to help it transfer weight? the lca's are in the bottom hole but it is only barely -1.7 degrees of angle, ie not enough (similiar issue i ran into with my car).
may try to drill another hole lower to get more angle.
crunch time, less than 24hrs
Awesome stuff. We went to Talladega for the fall races, now I’m playing catch up all week. Thanks for sharing the videos. Can’t wait to see the drag strip runs.
Nolan
went 10.54 on boost alone and went 10.16 with 100 shot....at 138. went 140mph on a pass where I sprayed it out of the hole. battled us bad today. alternator had smoke coming out of it. stopped charging. then started charging again lol.
my car was there for moral support

Sounds like it was running good. I can’t get the attachments to open but it may be because I’m using an iPad on WiFi. Had to get a new PC because of windows 11 so I brought it to the computer man to transfer all my stuff from old to new.
