You worry too much! What I have done now just looks bad. I could put it back together in 8 hours if I had to.
Got a guy on it now. The lathe I was trying to use didn't open up big enough for the spacers and power steering pulley.

Front end, minus the hood, is back together and rough-aligned. Took FOREVER to get it right. Rear bumper and trunk is next for the teardown, surgical clean and edge in...

Good work man, I know you can get er done. I can't wait to see a cpair of Monte's racing at this years Shootout.
Thanks. Had some brand new weatherstripping come in yesterday and the new carpet will be here Wednesday. With a bit of luck I should have the car back together by next weekend. Hopefully it will be ready for gateway if you guys make it out again before the shootout.
Keep the updates comin.

Found a scoop. Only thing I could find wide enough is a "bolt on". It has these recessed holes where the bolts drop through but I'm thinking I might just bolt it on and fill the holes with some kitty hair and resin. What do you think?

It might end up looking kinda cool with the perimeter bolts but I don't want to push the ricer factor
Dude...set it on backwards....just wanna see something.

Lol I know what you're going after. I just ordered it last night. Those are the pics from jegs. I looked into a "six pack" style scoop but it didn't have the center rib. When I get it in I will see what it looks like
I did it to my old bird back in the day... Cut a whole in the hood and it was a lil ram air ish....
Lemme see if i can find pics... I loved it

Car is looking good. I like the scoop. I say leave the bolts visible.
That does look good Larry. When it comes in I'll play with it and see how it looks. I think the bolts will look good too. I may even swap the round head bolts for some stainless Allen head capscrews.
Here are some more pics of where I'm at now...
Making progress :finger:
We are going to head over to Gateway next Wed for TNT, I will bring your bottle if you think you can make it, hopefully with the Monte
Well I got called out for work, go figure. This time I'll be working night shift for a few weeks. 10 hour days. So there goes my gateway plans. But I'll see if my dad wants to meet you out there and pick it up. If I hadn't already been off for a month I would have turned it down
No problem, and I can meet up later to get the bottle to you if he can't make it.
At least if you are getting some work you will have more cash to get you BG.
Looking good! do you think you'll have it ready in time for the shootout?
Oh yea. All I've really got left are some odds and ends. I just recently ripped it apart do to the paint. Worst case scenario, if I get too behind I will take it unpainted. I'm planning on taking it to the car show too so that's why I wanted to address the body
Yea it just figures id get called a month before the shootout
It wasn't what I was going for, but I couldn't pass up the price and the completeness of it....

The shifter is a Hurst dual gate. Should look pretty good in the Monte. One converter is a 3600 stall and I'm not sure what the stall is on the other but it looks to have an anti-balooning plate. I put a deposit on it through PayPal and am going to try to get it by this weekend. After the bodywork is done, it'll go in.
Little video I found on youtube showing the operation of the dual gate shifter.

Thats a great deal on the trans.

Either
Looks a little narrow, can you fill in the gap or do you have to widen the cowl?
That's the hood I cut up. Probably going to pick up another for $80 this weekend. Otherwise I will have to weld back what I cut out
I gotta say... Im digging it on there either way.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Im gonna go out on this and say EXPOSED... it gives it a "GRRRRR" look.
Had to work tonight so my dad made the trip to pick up the th350 setup.

Exposed. Stainless or color matched.
9,600+ views.. I would say your build thread is a success....
Not a success till its done. I'm dropping off the spacers for the crank pulley to my guy who's going to machine them for me. After that the mechanical end of the project is pretty much done. I've got new carpet and weatherstipping ready to go in once the paint is done. It should look pretty good in a few weeks
