Have shot 300rds through it without one issue. It's my new favorite. I know a lot of po-lice who have one as an off duty. If your still not digging the idea, get out to a range that rents guns and put some rounds through it. I would go with a full size if it is going to be a night stand gun, no need for a compact of any sort. Larger frame... better accuracy with a longer barel, as well as the opportunity for higher cap mags (not sure what NJ allows).
FYI, my current night stand gun is a full size glock 17 with a TLRII rail mounted.

Im a 9mm guy with my glock... I know people think its less stopping power, but I dont really think the stopping power is that big of a difference between the 9mm and the .40.
9mm or .40cal is cheaper than .45 too no?
Stopping power is a huge debate that will never get a concrete answer, but, 3.5 00 close range will prob win ;)

I have a XD sub .40 and I love it more than my Glock 27 sub .40. I think it's because of that XD's safety features like the indicator that let's you know a round is in the chamber or the gun has been cocked and the 1911 style grip safety.
