Picked this up at gander mountain yesterday. Works as advertised, and this way I'm not leaning rods everywhere. Pretty happy for the $11 and change it cost.

I have two rods (baitcasting and the large red Zebco spinner), my wife has the shorter spinner (Ugly Stick GX2 combo), my oldest now has the Zebco 33 closed face caster, the green caster was my oldests but is now the loaner rod, and my 2 year old has the little green one. I'll be adding a second rack because next on my hitlist is a nice rod and a shimano quick trigger reel.
Was up EARLY this am, so went down by myself. Picked up a pack of Stanley Ribbits and a TroKar Live Target Sunfish lure. Used a 5/0 EWG with keeper for the Ribbits, and the bass just MURDERED it. Landed this guy, had several hits I was too quick with the set on, and had another hooked and I was dumbfounded when he pulled my knot out. Hoping I catch him to get the hook out before it causes him issues.

Hah, my first ever fish selfie.
One thing I started doing and I noticed it makes a TREMENDOUS difference for catch and release, I'm flattening all the barbs on my hooks. No muss no fuss, hook comes right out.
Next toy after the mamo AFR's for my car is a boat.

I flatten the barbs when I target small trout because they are fragile fish. For bass, I leave the barbs in. Bass are very strong and hearty. It's very difficult to cause harm to them. I'm going to have to look into those Ribbits!

Went back out last night. The Bass weren't hitting topwater at all, only had one hit. But my 6 year old on his first cast......

Then a little while later he gets this big cat.

I had gotten him a new Zebco 33 setup and he took to that a lot better as it's way more stuff than what he was on. I think he is going to start a YouTube channel for his fishing. He was overjoyed to see himself on youtube, lol.

@joelster -- What am I doing wrong? I'm using the Stanley Ribbit lures on a 5/0 EWG/Keeper hook, texas rigged. I lost four out of five fish today. The four I lost, all put up a pretty good fight for about 10-20 seconds then boom, off. I'm not getting a good hook set at all and am wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Couple of them the lure came back in with the tip still shallowly snugged in the lure as prescribed. I'm being patient when they hit, giving it a second, then setting, or so I think.

I use Gamakatsu hooks when I fish with bait or plastics. I'm not familiar with the hooks you use. There are several reasons why we lose fish, sometimes it's not our fault. Most of the time it's because of a lack of a good hookset combined with not enough tension on the line. If you have a very flimsy rod that can bend real easy at the tip then it's easy for a fish to shake and cause the line to go slack which allows them to toss the lure. You said that on some of the strikes the hook was still buried in the plastic. Well, most likely the fish had the entire bait in his mouth and was pulling and your hook never left the bait. I don't fish texas-rig setups but there are specific hooks to use that you don't use in other scenarios. I googled the hooks you have and they are the proper style. I would try again but don't cut the barbs off this time lol! You're not going to hurt a largemouth bass with a barb. I have had steelhead days where I go 4 for 10, and then the very next day I go 10 for 11. Can't explain it.

I'm using gammys or eagle if I didn't have a gammy. My rod is pretty stiff so I don't think that's the issue. Maybe just dumb luck still. I'm going to try a Stanley double take hook soon as I can find some. They rig to the ribbit totally differently and reportedly give you far more good sets.

If you guys fishing for.......anything really......haven't heard of the ned rig look it up. I just CRUSHED the bass in my pond this morning, first time ever with the setup. Didn't snap a pic of the first one, lost a biggun on a line break, lost three more in the air on the shake. Amazingly stupid simple lure setup.

Went kayaking with the wife this weekend so I decided I'd bring the fishing rod and try to catch some bass. I think this guy was also out looking for small bass lol

Fished a buddies pond this past weekend. No signs of anything than bluegill and perch. Then, this happened:

This guy was the length of my arm at least, AT LEAST. I never got him on shore because as I was trying to drag him up the panfish hook he was on bent straight. I thought about just grabbing him by the lower jaw but didn't get to him fast enough. Totally caught off guard by that one.
