Ill let him live his own life. When he has a firm grasp on how to take care of everything else. Without my help. He can live his own life. Plus he will not join the military. I have nothing against serving. But its not for my brother, I know him and know he will regret doing it within a year of joining.Quote:

I agree that some people are not cut out for it. And I know a lot of people that "threaten" to enlist that look for people to talk them out of it. But they are the ones that stand to learn the most from it by owning the benefits and consequences of their actions.
I had just moved out from home in February of 02 (remember 9/11) and was living in Florida when I went to enlist in the army. I tested high enough to be a linguist but wanted to be infantry instead. I was 3 days away from going to meps when I called home to tell my parents and my mom talked me out of it. She had good reason I guess, my dad had cancer and I was in the dark to the severity of it. But in the end, my dad pulled through, i met my wife, gained 100# and had 4 kids. I didn't get the chance to serve and I regret it still
I agree. I planned to join the Marines. Since i was a kid, i had family members teaching me that had served. And physically trained my self for years growing up. But i got diabetes and lost any chance of serving.
My little brother always looked up to me. And always tried to mimic me. And i feel part of the reason for doing this. Is so he can do what i was not able to do. And prove himself as a man..... But i know my brother very well. And he is not a fighter. Its just not in him
