Dude I understand your dilemma totally. I keep going back and forth over what to do with my 93. For the money with my time and talent I can cut the car up and convert to a c5 drive train or for the same money and much less fab work I can fix cleanup that 355 bottom end, get mike to rebuild my t56, buy a 12 bolt or something, and repaint the car. As much fun the challenge of doing the conversion and the ease of lsx I am prob just gonno do the other plan .

Deadlines, Stress? ask most if not all of us who is thrashing up until the last minute for the shootout, I am still thrashing since the 11 shoot out and still not finished. it comes with the territory...

Well I got the engine torn down to a short block last night and this is what I found.

The rings are most definitely washed, found most of the ring material in the bottom of the pan. What confused me is the white powder? Was it from the amount of fuel sitting in the cylinder?

Make sure to check your bearings while the pan is off.

She's getting completely taken down for the hone. I'm not playing around this time. I also need to get a data cable so I can check everything before start up. I still don't know why she was soooo rich. I know my ecu coolant temp sensor was trashed but I don't know if the ECM uses that on start up or just in open loop.

i believe it uses it on start up and open loop since it just looks at temp map and low res at first if i recall correctly. i know when mine went south last year the thing was dumping fuel so bad i thought i washed it

Make sure the shop knows what type of rings you will be using so they know what to finish the cylinders to. Plasma / plasma-moly take a much finer finish to seat properly.

I'm using the JE G31F8-4030-2 rings...again.

You may already know this but when I washed mine out I did a lot of research into it and what I found was its not erosion of the actual ring material that causes the rings to stop sealing as much as it is the heat generated by going dry causes them to lose tension. It there any cross hatching left on the walls?
