Thread update, ended up with a new gen 4 glock 19 from a recent visit to the Dixie gun and knife show. $525 out the door. Totally copied Chris and got the hogue grip and mag extensions. Absolutely love it!! I've also done the lone wolf 3.5lb trigger job. Shoots flawlessly! I now understand the difference in a $300 gun and a $600 gun! Now I want more glocks!! Lol
Just wait till you get your hands on a hk.

The M&P Shield, Beretta and XD series will also serve you well if you decide on something else other than a Glock for the next gun.
I've never been a fan of Glocks. They make a solid gun, but I have yet to find one that feels comfortable in my hands. Then again, I have fingers like tree trunks.
I bought a Ruger .45 P90 a few years back and probably have a few hundred rounds through it. Still fires very accurate and since it's a bigger pistol, it fits perfectly in my hands and the recoil isn't bad. I used to carry it but I was eventually sick of lugging around a .45 all the time so now it stays at home. My favorite handgun I own is the 1939 1911-knock-off Ballester-Rigaud .45 (was supposedly an Argentina police issue hand gun). Still fires accurate and smooth.
My first 2 hand guns were Rugers, p97dc 45 and a gp100 357, both defective out of the box. The p97 mag lock wouldn't hold on to the mag and every shots recoil made the mag fall out. The gp100 had a bad cylinder and spent shells had to be physically forced out with a screw driver and brute force.
Loved them both after going through all the bs and lack of support to get fixed. However it permanently put a sour taste in my mouth for rugers.
I absolutely always hated glocks and swore I would never own a glock or a 9mm for that matter. Through research and hands on over the last few years I've had a change of heart.
Hard to question it's reliability, and I'm at a point where that matters more than most other pros and cons.
