Yikes that is steep. Maybe a 400 would be cheaper to build?

If I go 400, I'll just keep my 80. O looked at my receipt for it last night, just to see what I could get out of it....a PG isn't so bad now LOL.
Why?
The 400 is cheaper, smaller & lighter than a 4L80.
FWIW I paid my TH400 2200$ @ Hughes Performance. It's their competition prepped TH400 with transbrake, rated for 1000 hp in my 4200 lbs Caprice.
I ran it a couple years with no issues at all. I even towed my boat with the car lol.
TH400 = 135 lbs
4L80e = 178 lbs

That's not terrible. Iirc my 80 is like no converter.
It's a 43 lbs difference, thats a lot IMO.
I'm about to fuck this all up....
My buddy just offered to trade me my old t56 back. It blew 3rd gear on him last fall. RPM is replacing it, new seals, and re-faceplating the gear. It's also getting a new input shaft. Here's what it's got (I still have reciepts)
T56-$700
Building/faceplating the t56-$3700 see pic
Sfi bell-$450
McLeod twin -$1200?
And getting freshened up while repaired.

Do I trade back or take the offer of $3000 I got and buy a PG.
Damnit!
I want a fast as shit street car that can run a time when needed.
Nice build BTW. Nothing better then seeing a chevy motor in a ford body... "Body made Ford tough, heart beat by Chevrolet"
I would go with the T56...
If u want a consistent. ..fast race car that can go on the street... stay auto. If u want more fun on the street with slightly lower ets...amd prob less consistency go stick.
