Help/info needed on LS1 brake swap and overhaul.

Hey guys I'll probably be needing some new brake pads when I pull my car out from hibernation in the spring and I know a friend who has all the parts available for an LS1 brake swap for me, for cheap. I have a few questions though because I never really looked into this. I found a good deal on a set of both front and rear slotted rotors and ceramic pads from powerstop pretty cheap, via ls1tech's sponsor sales... I was thinking about getting the parts for an LS1 front brake conversion from my buddy and getting these new pads and rotors and powdercoating the LS1 calipers. So I'd have to get the front AND REAR LS1 rotors and pads, but I was wondering what I'll need to put LS1 rear brakes? I'll be swapping a 3.42 rear end into the car over the winter so I could put all the stuff I need on that since I need the backing plates and everything anyway to put on the rear end because its got no brakes on it, and I dont wanna pull all my stuff off my current rear.. Or should I just leave the rear brakes alone? What do you guys think?

I haven't installed my LS conversion yet (just fronts), but from what I hear the e-brake is totally different on rear LS calipers. I also hear that there is virtually NO benefit to swap to LS rears vs. keeping LT rears.

Kevin its not worth it. U have to change ur hole rear brake set up plus ebrake setup. And another thing with the rear ls1 calipers ur gonna have to grind them down to clearance on almost welds and summits stars to make fit

mmm I'm just going to gather the front parts and get some LT1 rear brake parts. Less work to do...

That's what I did. I bought LS1 spindles, calipers, then had everything powder coated and run LS1 front rotors and pads and LT1 rear rotors and pads. Works out good..... Now if I could just get my e-brake to work again...:(

lt1 setup is less complex and lighter as well.

Arent the lt1 calipers iron and ls1 are aluminum?

Stick a magnet on each...see which one holds :D

Yes, and LT1 calipers are single piston, LS1 are a dual piston.

Yeah thats mostly the whole reason behind the swap, and the larger rotors...
