just wondering if anyone has ever done this or heard of anyone boxing in the panhard bar and lower control arms. basically you just weld a strip of metal to close in the current "U" shaped suspension to reinforce it. this idea was ran by me because my current project is to spend as little money as possible to go as fast at possible (i work 3 to 4 days a week as a server and am trying to put myself through school). so if anyone has any info or opinions about this is would be appreciated. thanks.

Used some 16 gauge and my mig. was pretty easy, just be sure to clamp the hell outta it so it dont warp and spread the heat with small spaced out welds, filling in slowly..

I had the steel from another project. I have since replaced them with UMI tubular ones w/ poly busings. The bushings really make the big difference.
I run boxed lower control arms and a modified boxed shortened torque arm. I run 1.5x 60 foots and still run a stock panhard bar.
I boxed a set of LCA's on an 83 Camaro once upon a time. I built an adjustable panhard bar but I have heard of them being boxed too. It's easy if you got the tools. Mine were finished off with poly bushings, it made a noticable difference along with the home brewed SFC's.

it helped me cut a 2.0 60' (not as if that is great) but b4 i boxed em the best i could muster with the ol M6 was 2.3. I have yet to run with the new suspension.. But i must say the poly bushings in the new arms are much less sloppy. SO if you box your stockers, atleast replace the bushings.
i've got a boxed set of lcas, they're better than tubular imo

This is done quite often in the stock class racing in the NHRA. I can tell you first hand of a shop owners third gen with a 305 with a stock lift cam with boc LCA's and boxed or guested TA that runs 10.5's.
