So, how do you guys feel about having the blog. This is something we wanted to initially implement with the site, but never got around to. I've always wanted to do something like this, so it's really more of a feeler than anything.

I've been on other forums that did a similar thing to the main page. I could see how it could be more useful, but it doesn't do that much for me. I voted to keep it, but keep the forum as the main page. If I ever want to use it I can just click the link on the navigation bar.
Yeah, I understand. We want to get more information flowing in and out of the site. This is a great way to get our sponsors products in the spotlight and a great way to give feedback on products as well. Like I said though, it's a feeler.Quote:

- Lastly, automotive news should not be in the same section as Site Updates. They do not mix at all and will only clutter up that forum.
Don't take that as being harsh, it is simply some tips/opinions from another person with webmastering experience.
I think its a pretty cool idea. I voted to keep it and make it as the main page and link to the forum. I always liked the whole "corvetteforum.com" layout. I like when all the latest info is what you see first like that.. Then you can click into the forums too.
Eitherway, I think its definately something worth keeping.
It's fine with me, as long as it updates often. No sense in making it the front page if I have to see the same story for a month. But yes, keep it.
Wouldn't this whole forum be considered as a "blog"?
I like the idea, and I think it's a GREAT idea to showcase a sponsors item of choice like once a week or month or something. Really helps us give back to them. I think we can keep the blog up.
I did'nt vote because I'm not sure if I want to see it as the main page or not.

As far as the comment system goes, yes I can enable a comment block on the main page, but either way you are being directed to the main thread. Clicking read more takes you to the thread, clicking reply takes you to the thread, so having a dedicated comment system, outside of the thread, would be redundant to me. The way it is now gets people into the forums, if they are new regestrants and came here via a blog posting.
We are limited in the scope of what we can do with this. We are going to try to expand on it as much as possible, so keep the opinions comming. I'll take everything under advisement and work with what I can.
Also, users will be able to post up articles if they wish. I am going to make a usergroup for those who would like to contribute. Once we get the kinks out, we will open the doors.
