Are "Heat Treated" pushrods hardened, or do they go by a different name?
there's
hardened pushrods (steel) 2pc or 1 pc $70-100.00
chromoly pushrods (steel lightweight) 2pc or 1pc $100-130.00
Thank you. But when you search Summit for "Hardened Pushrods" not much comes up at all.
I've heard some people call them "Heat Treated" and Summit does have some that are "Heat Treated" so that's why I asked. Does anyone know how to tell if they are hardened pushrods on Summit (or Jegs)?
I've also heard of a brand of Pushrods that are cheap, but almost identical to a more expensive brand. Someone want to push me in the right direction?
Do you just want a set so you can use guideplates?
I actually wasn't going to use guideplates at all. I'm going with a S/A roller rocker, but my guess is my pushrods are stock so I was going to replace them when I do the cam change (which will hopefully start next month). I've also heard from MULTIPLE people and sites that the pushrods from 93-95 were hardened from the factory, so I'd feel kind of weird replacing them with non-hardened ones.
I just wanted to start looking into how much they cost.
Ok, that makes since and yes from what I've heard the early LT1's do have hardened pushrods from the factory. Basically anything you get aftermarket will be at least as good and I think heat treated is hardened so they are the same thing.
I thought only the 93-94 engines had hardened push rods but Im probably wrong.

I have a '93 but I still went with the 1 pc chromoly pushrod.
