Caddys replacement, the GCSRT
Well now that my custom escalade (man I feel like i did so much to that thing) is gone, time to officially introduce the replacement.
I actually had no intentions of getting rid of the caddy, and had appointments for (right about now) spring to have some rocker rust removed by replacing the rockers... but then one day on my drive to work, the stock trans let go.
We had just bought the wife a new BMW X3M (not the sport line appearance package but the actual 12 second suv...crazy)... and I thought, well with all the cool things she has in this new ride... why am I gonna continue with my barely 2k technology in the caddy.
So I went looking at new F150s with thr 5.0 coyote, but with the dealer installed custom wheels and lift kit etc... went and drove one and....

Didn't like it At all. I realized that Im not into jumping up and down into my vehicle, especially on days when my back, hip, knees, etc are not 100%. As I was leaving I saw a preowned jeep grand cherokee srt sitting on the lot.
For those familiar with these things, they destroy the price of a regular grand cherokee by nearly 100% when fully loaded, and the trackhawks (out of my price range) by even more.
So I went home, waited for the wife to come home and took her to see the f150... although she said, "its you," she didnt say it the same way as she did when she saw the hotrod suv srt. Now, to decide, do I buy a 2 year old suv or a brand new "custom" truck... with the suv being a hair more expensive, even as a preowned...
Took it for a drive and told them I needed to think about it.
Meanwhile the caddy was off for a new tranny and up for sale... she did not go down without a fight... in the 2 months she was down, she blew a brake line, shit out two 02 sensors, and locked up thr 3 year old air ride compressor...
1200 dollars later and all of that was fixed along with the trans and my email and text was blowing up with interested parties... some wanting to just see it... some standing next to it calling, asking how much i wanted for it... damn well knowing the price of 6999.00 was listed right above the phone number they used to call me...
Then while working I got a message from a guy who wanted to see it. I couldnt escape from work, so my friend Chris at knopps @BlueBottleZ showed the truck for me... I could tell the guy was interested cause he wanted to see it again the following day.
Being that I was off that day, I met him in my "new to me" jeep grand cherokee srt... i took him for a ride in the caddy (i used the shops RT tag so I couldnt let the stranger drive it, on case something happened) we negotiated, he took a night to talk to the wife then pitched me his offer.
Hold it for up to 30 days, but for my risk I hold his large down payment as NON REFUNDABLE.
Deal!!!! And 15 days later qe were transferring the title and the caddy has a new family, with 3 young kids. She is now the 2nd vehicle in what was a 1 vehicle family (a 5th get bumblebee camaro for the 5 of them btw).
Other than the passenger side window motor burning out on him, I covered the cost of a fresh inspection and he and I are now happy with each of our "NEW" vehicles.
Now before I post the pics, here is the deal... the GC SRT is rated at 480fwhp, it is awd and she is heavy. The wifes twin turbo 6 is a bit faster than the 6.4 NA srt, but as most of us know, they are two different animals. The jeep is my DD thru snow, summer, etc, so as much as Id love to treat it like a hot rod, its my DD and must remain 100% reliable. So much so, that I purchased the 2k Mopar extended warranty on EVERYTHING last month... vut she is now covered for 8 more years.
So here come the pics.
