I want to leave my trickle charger hooked to the battery so when I park in the garage I can pop the hood and just quick connect it. Can I use the 2 posts on the passenger fender to hook to like pictured?

I don't see why not.
That is similar to how I have mine hooked up, no issues with it so far.
I have mine right on the posts to the battery of all my vehicles
