Rookie from NE Ohio
I live in NE Ohio and have been building and working on cars for 30+ years. Found the site through a web search looking at different cams...
My sons '93 Z28 is the first LT1 I've worked on, but I have had a lot of previous experience with small block ford's and chevy's. Right now we're building the motor on the mild side because of emissions and the fact that all of the smog equipment is gone... hopefully we can get it passed with the rebuild and a decent tune.

Welcome from Texas!
I have a 93 too and let me tell you that they are a little different from the rest of the LT1 Camaro years.
-One major difference is that we have a chip for tunes and most likely you will have to get a mail order tune. I heard people changing out the PCM with the 94-95 pcm with little effort and cost, but I'm not familiar with it. I would do it to be able to dyno tune it locally if that's available. I'm going 24x for tuning reasons.
-Our cars are speed density and don't have MAF sensor.
-Our transmission is a 4L60.... No E, not a 4L60E. We still use a kick down cable.
-Our intake and fuel rails are different, but I "heard" our 93 intake flows better especially if it's been ported. This is a little difference.

Thanks guys. Right now we are getting ready to drop the motor out and tear it down. Going to see if it spun a rod bearing or if we have a wrist pin issue.... then we'll decide on how big we go.
Planning on just a minor rebuild with a .030 bore and a small cc 502 cam, maybe a 2200-2400 stall. If I need to get the crank cut and new rods, I may just build a mild 383.
I do have to keep it kind of mild since my 17 yr old is going to be driving it a lot.

Sweet - never know what we might be looking for.
We just got the engine out over the weekend and now we are tearing it down. I know that we are ditching the A/C (too much money to fix it anyhow) and we are looking at modifying the alternator bracket to make it mount in the A/C spot so we can take the v/c's off easily in the future.
