WP safety light

so i got my EWP and i will be installing it to work on a toggle switch (on the switch pannel i am making) i was thinking that i wanted to install a light that would come on if it were to ever fail ... kinda in the same idea as a shift light so i know to stop the motor ... is there a way to do this ?

Why not just have it run all the time with key on.

This.

Then add a switch to run with ignition off, its not that hard. Tell yourself you will always remember to turn it on, but you will forget once or twice. And god forbid someone goes to move your car etc.

As far as the light, GM was nice enough to give you a nice ECT gauge, perhaps watch it?

I think he is wanting a light that comes in if the EWP stops while the switch is on.
I would recommend having the pump connected to come on when the key is in the run
position with an add-on switch for those times when you want to circulate coolant with
the key off.

Only way i would know is use some kinda of normally open temp switch(kinda like an idiot light). it would monitor temp and not that the WP is turning

I use 2 relays in mine. One to turn on the WP with 12 switched from the fuse block, and the other for the "dummy" light. If you're wiring inept, I suppose I could scribble something up, but I went off someone else's recommendation for mine. But basically the dummy light relay has the LED/light wired to 87a and the coil side spliced inline to the WP leads. That way, if the WP circuit goes open on either voltage or ground, the dummy light relay de-engergizes, supplying voltage to 87a, and turning on the light.

Or u just watch ur temp guage. If it gets to the red... something is not working right. Lol

Best idea I have seen so far, but still doesn't cover you if the rotor shorts and stator still carries current.

Either way, watch the gauges GM gave you, if you aren't watching them IDK what another thing that you prob wouldn't watch do for you...

No it doesn't, but I like wiring so I did it. I always watch my temp gauge anyway. And I agree with all the others, don't use a switch to turn on/off the pump. You'll forget. I used to have a manual fan switch, but I ended up leaving it on a few times and killed my battery, so I ripped it out.
