Cam & tune hp question

This is for LT1 engines only.Can a cam & tune make and extra 100-125 HP??Now thats 100-125 on top of what its already got.Ive had a big discussion on this.

Note sure about horsepower but with stock heads and block I cut 1 second off and gained 10 mph with my custom LE cam. Did exactly what I wanted it to do. I'd guess 100 horse is a stretch with just a cam.

What type of tune mail order self tune?

I can tell u my boosted application had a significant increase going from slightly modded stock heads to my huge afr227 eliminators, proper cam, along with a major retuning.

I would guess the most you would get from a cam and tune on a stock set up would be 50 hp. i used the comp 276 cam. with that and a tune my car made like 275 and 310 tq. I dont know what it was before the cam though.


like others are saying, there are a lot of supporting mods that can make a cam make a bigger difference. everything needs to be matched of course though.

A cam and head upgrade could probably add 100 hp to the engine.

Or you could just go the easy route and get some nitrous. add 50, 100, 150 whatever you want.

I would say 50 HP not much more would be it.Popo8,You have mods to go with that cam so i can a big HP difference.But a cam and tune only,I cant see no 100+HP.

I was the one talking about it with a few other people.Tim Hinton and a few more.They where say 150+ for a cam and tune>The went from a stock LT1 at 275 and was saying at least the was getting 450HP.Thats there guess no dyno.I just cant see it.

I've seen some "cam only" cars make 360rwhp but what allot of people call cam only still have all the good supporting mods. Matter of fact, a near identical setup to mine back when I built it originally made that number.
