Im sure this has been covered in thread here before. But I have got a spare set of stock stamped lca's laying around. And i was wondering if anyone has ever played around with willing a piece of flat stock to them and boxing them in. Opinions?

I started to, but by the time you pay for st่el and new bushings it's actually cheaper to buy a set from founders performance. They're very nice pieces, powder coated and grease able bushings, that's the way to go IMHO. They're like $65 bucks, I got the relocation brackets to, love the setup works great. Hope this helps ya
It probably would end up being close to the same cost, but one thing you need to remember is most of the aftermarket tubular arms come with poly bushings on each end. Which is fine if its mainly a drag car, but it wouldn't be very good for a street car because the poly doesn't allow for any flex laterally. You could get the Moog bushings off Rock Auto for about 20 bucks. Then a stick of flat stock for probably 10-15.
Poly bushings are not just for drag cars. I've rode on polys for years in both my old LS car and my LT with no noticeable vibrations. If someone wants to keep the rubber bushing; they might as well just forget about even trying to box the stock arms and go pick out a nice set of floor mats or antenna ball or something from Autozone.
Not to mention if the person doesn't have a press at their house to press in the new rubber bushings most shops I know charge $20 a bushing to press out/in a new bushing. So that would be a minimum of $50 in supplies and $80 in labor...Founders are still the way to go.
I've never specifically had an issue either with poly bushings on both ends, but the sticky for auto x and road race at the top of the page was saying poly/poly wont allow the arm to twist in a turn. It might not ever be an issue for him. My previous car had tubular arms with poly on each end and I didn't have any issues, but then again I never really pushed that car too much either so who knows.
