At Home Powder Coating
I want to do powder coating at my house.. I would not do any huge parts like rims, just small odd and ends. Now, I don't know much about the process. Do you prep the part just like you would for paint? Afterwards, hang it and spray it then just bake it in the oven and your done?
Also, I have a HVLP Spray Gun. Can I just that and buy powder for that and use it?
Here's the kit I'm looking at if you can't use a HVLP gun... http://www.amazon.com/Eastwood-Hotco...powder+coating

Now.. I don't have my own oven lol. Could I use a toaster oven? It goes up to 450 degrees it says. It's big enough for parts that I would want powder coated. And in the future, possible get a normal oven.
Shed some light on this, I don't know much about it thanks

Im not sure as far as powder coating goes, but I used a toaster over for a few years to cook, worked great. Just might take alittle longer to do. Once again I cant speak for powder coating. I would imagine the important part would be having a stable temperature for the amount of time needed. Maybe do a small test piece first and see what happens

Basically what I was saying is if it can reach the necessary temperature, then it should work fine.

I believe powdercoating takes it's own specialized gun. Yes you can use a toaster over if it'll get to and maintain 400+ degrees over a half hour or so.

The powder coating gun charges the particles electrostatically, either by passing them through a voltage induced corona, or using friction. Don't think you can do that with an HVLP gun.

I have this kit. Used only a couple of times. It was messy. I didn't enjoy the cleanup lol.
Want to make an offer on what I have? I have a pound of silver vein as well to go with it.
