Hello, anyone out using a knock alert device, I am looking for a device to give me an audible alarm and a visual light of some kind so when my engine starts to knock under boost, I will be alerted and can react in time to protect from engine damage. I just broke a piston due to detonation which I never heard due to the exhaust system. any information would be appreciated. thanks Bill
Are you using a stock pcm or aftermarket?
stock obd1 pcm with dyno tune
Were you using the stock knock sensor? Did your program allow for adequate knock retard?
There are wide-band controllers that will sound an audible alarm if the A/F ratio drops below a preset threshold, and will also interrupt an electrical circuit - e.g. shut the engine down.

I am using the stock knock sensor, getting ready to swap in a lt4 knock module, then back to the dyno. I have wide band left and right displays in my gauge cluster but they are too hard to watch when im at the dragstrip. would really like to have something that tells me if it knocks. I already ruined a piston and don't want to do that again.

The thing is, the knock sensor can pick up knock way before you could hear it (even without the exhaust noise), and the PCM responds by retarding timing way quicker than you could respond to an alarm with a manual action. 1/2 a second and you will still lose the piston.
What issue do you have that requires the LT4 knock module? Are you experiencing false knock? Do you have full roller rockers?
yes I have roller rockers and long tube headers, the tuner could see the computer is pulling almost all the timing out too early.
