how do i pick what springs

so i got a cam 226/234 .530/.530 LSA 111

i know better than to just stab it in the car ... i want to get some LS7 lifters, new pushrods, a quality 1.6R FULL ROLLER rocker, and SPRINGS

the stock springs only hold ~85 lbs seated pressure new ... and with 165K on the clock i bet that has gone down. i am looking at the 7000 mark for a redline so i am betting i will need non self aligning rockers and guideplates. but with that rpm in mind what springs should i be looking for? no so much the brand but more along the line of the specs. of the springs i need to be shopping for.

long story short ... i dont want valve float with the cam i will be installing... help please.

depends on the lobe profile. but these should work just fine i just ordered a set for my 7k build. they are real nice springs for the price. lunati Part #73925

yep, Lunati 73925 K5 has the correct .560 seals for thestock LT1 heads.

Its a new part # they just put together for us LT1 people.

You could. But then you would be adjusting the rockers twice.

Won't he get into coil bind with 0.530" lift on stock springs? And is that gross lift measured with 1.5X or 1.6X rockers?

im still wondering the idea of revving that cam to 7k.....

The stock springs will DEFINITELY coil bind and will possibly break with that kinda lift even at idle.

If it is revved at all there is an even greater chance of breaking a spring.

WQorse case scenario is you brerak a spring, locks pop out, valve goes down into cylinder, piston smashes valve repeatedly, knocks a hole in piston then piston/valve destroy head and block, connecting rod with no piston swings around and knocks a hole in block, oil pan, breaks cam, etc, etc. At this point just pull the intake and throw the rest away.

This is WORSE case scenario but it can and has happened.

It is not even worth it.

I would not even attempt this.
