Budget shortblock build. Trustworthy machinist in tristate area?
Well someone came to look at my car, and even though they didn't buy it I almost got sick at the idea of selling it. Looks like ill be keeping her for a while.
While the car is still running good, I want to do something with the bottom end for a little more confidence.
I'm not looking to make crazy horsepower or run 9's, just to make a little more power then what I have now and freshen the motor up a little.
I'm going to use the stock crank and have it cut, get a set of forged eagle h beams, forged speedpro flat top pistons, clevite bearings and all arp hardware (rod bolts, mains, head bolts)
All I want to do is put my fmic on the car and run a 10lb pulley, with a little bit better breathing cam. I feel my choice for rods and pistons with the stock crank will hold fine for my goal of around 450hp or so
My question is what shops have you guys used for the block machine work? I'm looking for someone reasonably priced but not someone who's gonna hack my block.
I'll have only about 2500 to work with at the moment, all the parts I mentioned add up to be about 1000. I figure that should leave me plenty of money for the machine work/balancing
Thanks guys! You're all always helpful
