I'd like to see the do these articles with better head and cam selections and what not so that people can see the real potential of these awesome power plant's we enjoy, but I do like the way they show each item's power gain

Good stuff, but man did they pick some mild components. I would LOVE to seem them do a "who's who of teh LTx world" and pit LE, AI, and any other number of folks against each other on the same short block. THAT would be a hell of an entertaining read.
yea, the picked some verrrrry mild modifications. It is nice to see with even mild modifications that the old LT can be beefed up pretty easily
Indeed it would be entertaining. Probably would end up being another AI v. LE pissing match though, once the results hit the web. It seems that there are few topics more volatile in the LT1 world than that one.
On another note, I would guess that the 471 horsepower they made would equate to 390-400rwhp? Not bad for mild stuff....though I'd like to se them stuff that thing in a car and get some more relevant rwhp numbers..
I guarantee a lot of the reason for their numbers is the .040 overbore. That's a decent sized piston on a short stroke.......
I also considered the odd .40 over bore. With so many 355 builds, why did you use a .40 over motor? Anyway it is nice to be able to compare the different mods, and this is the article I think that showed me the 58mm TB was too much for most applications. The big thing I got from this was electric water pump. While I'm not too concerned about the hp gain, if there really will be one, I am more excited about the lower temps I'll be getting from daily driving. Stock set-up I'd be in a mcdonalds drivethru and in 2 minutes shot to 220 *F. Can't wait to see how the electric pump changes that number!
This was another interesting article on there, while not as in depth for comparing things, it showed some good info. And got me to Golen's site, there is helpful break-in procedures on there, practically step-by step. I plan to model my break-in off their methods. http://www.gmhightechperformance.com..._ls1_pcm_swap/
As nice as GMHTP is, you'll never see an LE or AI heads/cam test until they become a sponsor. Just about every magazine out there is this way.
Sad but true. Blind eye to the real power producing LT1 brands.
Just got my newest issue and there are 2 LT1 fourth gens in the Street Heat section, not sure if they are members on here or not but some good looking cars.
