I just found out there's a gas station near by with 100 octane fuel. Its $2 more per gallon. My question is would the potential power i can squeeze out if it by advancing the timing worth the extra cost? The car is a 94 formula running 6lbs of boost stock internals

IMHO I don't think it would be worth it. I would suggest you actually run a water system on your setup (something like Snow has or similar). The reason I suggest this is because by adding water to the system, you can effectively raise the octane level of gas by 10 points. Yes, you have to keep the reservoir full, but the cost benefits of it far outweigh the inconvenience. There are a lot more benefits to running such a system, especially with running boost. You would recoup the cost of the system very quickly considering the cost differential of the gas.
To answer your question, no. I say that, not because there's no worthwhile power to be had, but because running the timing up to the ragged edge on stock internals under 6# of boost is the equivalent of going to the strip club and paying with a credit card. Will it work? You bet! They'll love you long time, and you'll have a great time but you'll be hating yourself in the morning when MasterCard calls ya to say you're maxed out.Quote:

Same risk level as what? Water/meth injection has many benefits: lower intake temps, increased density charge, effective octane increase. What's not to like?? The only downside is remembering to fill your reservoir, but if you do that every time you fill up, you shouldn't have an issue. I also believe you can get kits with low fluid warning which would preclude you running low unknowingly.Quote:
