Block fill

Has anyone had any experience with a half fill on the bottom end? Considering doing it to mine while this build is going on, but afraid of it for street use. Anybody have any input and thoughts??

As of now, planning on somewhere between 15 and 20 pounds of boost, depends on how froggy I feel :-)

I know of people filling to the bottom of lower freeze plugs. And have no issues with it.

But i wouldnt say you need to do this. 15-20 pounds will do fine on a unfilled block.

I've seen Second Street Speed in Perkasie PA build several 1,000+HP LT1's, including George Baxter's 1,125HP 383 LT1, and they were dead set against block fill. One of the LT1 engines they were brought to identify major problems with overheating and detonation was found to be overfilled. One of the members here has George's old 383 block, and it was still in good condition for his high HP nitrous build. Second Street claimed their inspection of the stock LT1 block showed it had many of the features of the GM Bowtie blocks.

I know 15 to 20 isn't a ton, but it was a thought. That's why I figured I would ask if anybody has had any experience with it on here. Thanks for the input guys, sounds like I will probably stay away from it.

i would say in the 15-20lb range you will be fine not filling

my block is not filled.;)

My first block was filled to the freeze plugs. Never had any problems with it. My current one isn't. So for me it's not necessary. (200 shot)

I am shooting for 20psi and my block is not filled.
