Which would wield better results?
Iv had the ls1 lid before but I upgraded to a new 5 bar MAF but its longer then the stock one. Now I am having a really hard time fabbing something up to make the lid fit so I am thinking about just saying screw it and put on a cone filter right after the MAF
Bump, someone must have some insight on this.
Not sure what the MAF looks like. Do you have a pic? When I put my lid in, I have the MAF directly inside of it. Then a bellow from the MAF to TB. There is actually a little too much room as the silicon piece was barely long enough.
What bellow did you use? The MAF looks the same except it is longer then the stock one.
Just clarify, you are running an LT1 with the LS1 ram air box, correct? If that's the case I definitely wouldn't trade that for a cone filter sucking in all that hot air from the engine bay.
I'm also wondering why you would want to swap MAF's in the first place. Aftermarket MAFs are known to have calibration issues. And I'm still scratching my head as to what a 5 bar MAF is.
When I originally put it in, I couldn't find a legitimate SLP bellow so I used a cheap 'silicon hump coupler' from eBay. Looks like there are aftermarket bellows on eBay now too. In any case, the hump coupler allows it to bend enough in the middle to easily make up the angle from the MAF to TB. Have you tried putting the MAF directly in the lid? Not sure if your brands will fit, but my stock and Granatelli MAFs fit fine in the SLP lid.
I recently put in my new harness to go along with the ls1 pcm and 24x conversion. The MAF is not an aftermarket one, its GM Delco replacement for the Z06s
