*I am not trying to start anything, just asking.*
At my local track Orlando Speed World, I see stock/bolt on 5th gen V8 camaro's running 14.0's and some run 13.4's-13.9's. On many different occasions, not just one night.
There was ONE in the 12's, but it was modified and LOUD, it ran 12.3's all night.
My 2002 Z28 A4 with No muffler/cat (straight pipes), Lid, 3.42s, and Drag Radials ran 12.6 @ 110 mph, it still had STOCK manifolds.
I know the new camaro's are heavy, but why are they so slow?

Heavy, IRS 60, alot of driver mods. Alot to factor in. I wouldnt say they are any slower than a normal stock car with a bad driver
The only reason I say SLOW is because they cost $40,000+ compared to my $10,000 2002 Z28 (gone but not forgotten).Quote:

In my opinion, the 4th Gen F-bodies are the best "bang for the buck" cars ever made.

I guess power/weight, stock tune, street tires, driver, etc...
But still to me, GM messed up the new Camaro's LOOKS and PERFORMANCE. They are fugly compared to 4th gens.
To me, the best looking F-bodies ever made are 93-97 Formula's/Trans Am's with a Ram Air Hood and Black. Actually, those are the best looking cars EVER made!

5th gens are just as fast as 4th gens stock for stock at the drag strip. Where the 5th gen really shines is on a road course! A 4th gen doesn't have a prayer of keeping up!
There is ONE bone stock 2010 SS that has ran 12.83@108 at my local track but it was in very good weather with a complete cool down before the run. He hot lapped it and it dropped to 13.40@104. They need cooling mods bad.
