My oil pan and long tubes got owned...

Thankfully neither of them were punctured, just dented. Gotta love downtown Detroit. :shiner: I was taking a different route than I'm used to taking and didn't realize as I was changing lanes that there was a manhole cover where the surrounding pavement was higher than the rest of the road. I tried to avoid it, but I must have driven right into it. Worried the shit out of me because I could feel the whole car lift up as I hit it. Oil pressure stayed constant so I knew I didn't drop my pan but it didn't make my drive to the parking structure any easier... it's not like I could pull over and check my car without getting mugged or my car stolen LOL

Gotta love it. My ws6 got stuck on a similar manhole cover leaving taco bell back home. Was not cool having a nice trans am sitting lifted up and getting laughed at. Didn't want to hit it but had to cause some retard came flying in. Glad it didn't do much damage. I hit a limb on my way to work one morning, tore my y pipe off, bent my longtube, and busted my front bumper paint.Attachment 9931

Notice in the pics where I'm fixing it my moms firebird in the background in a similar pose lmao. Had to pull my driverside longtubes to put the y back on. Real fun lining up a LT with the y pipe pulling down on it while your by yourself lol

Edit - btw hope y'all enjoy the redneck engineering in those pics. Pull the car on ramps, chain the k member to the tongue of the trailer, let the weight rest on the chain, jack up the rear and sit it on jackstands on one side anyways. Atleast it can't fall lmao

Nah part of having a lowered fbody with longtubes lol. If you haven't hit them yet you will before its over with. Just glad his wasn't bad. My oilpan looked like someone took a sledgehammer to it but it never leaked. Previous owners hit everything looked like. I tried my best to avoid stuff.

That sucks I've nicked my headers a few time just scratch them never my pan tho my tunnel mount TA cross member is always the first thing to hit stuff.

True that. Got the umi tunnel mount adj torque arm I had from a friend that didn't use it and he got the regular driveshaft safety loop that hangs down instead of the flush one. It hit everything. It did hook better though

Holy crap guys, this is why I try to stick to routes I know.... But even then I get surprised from time to time...

Mine was a familiar route. Had a storm the night before. Came over a hill and as soon as my lights hit it I swerved. That was just the outside. Was half a tree laying on my side of the road.

Have you contacted the city, dot, whatever about covering the damages?
