New guy here, 1995 firebird formula M6
Recently acquired a "new" to me 1995 firebird formula M6 that's silver with black leather interior with pretty low mileage on it (under 100k)...quite happy with my acquisition!
of course, like any car I bought it needing a couple of things...
Radio didn't work (replaced broken monsoon unit with one from a 2000 trans am)
No heat (flushed heater core, works great now!)
the vents wouldn't go on to anything but to the floorboard (plug had come missing from under the glove box into the defroster vents)
slight oil leak coming from the valve cover breather on the passenger side and oil leak coming from the oil pan (replaced V/C grommet and pan gasket)
Passenger side T-Top had a slight water leak with heavy rain (some silicone and wax paper and made a mold to keep out water)
It was a Florida car all it's life until recently so the clear coat on the top surfaces is just about gone (getting repainted in a week factory silver)
Exhaust leak from the headers and O/R Y pipe connections (tightened and heat cycled the couplers, re-torqued 3 times)
I've fixed everything above so far with the help of shoebox and general mechanical know-how
well, enough of the boring crap... here is the mod list to the car:
K/N drop in air filter
SLP 160 thermostat
Kooks stainless long tube headers
Kooks stainless off road Y pipe
stock cat back with a POS chambered flowbastard muffler
Tunercat pro tune for 160* thermostat and fan(s) kick on at 170* and for 93 octane + bumped up ignition timing, etc.
LT4 knock module
the motor is out of a Y-body (Corvette) according to the plate on the block and the fact it has 4 bolt mains.
Prothane engine mounts and trans mount (energy suspension brand?)
Hurst short throw shifter (anyone know how to adjust the damn thing so I don't punch my HVAC panel when shifting into 3rd???)
also, all the maintenance has been taken care of so far
opti
water pump
oil pump drive gear thing under the intake manifold
Various gaskets
list goes on and on...
annnd for now, you'll have to deal with only the few pics I've got...more to come when it gets repainted this coming weekend.
Also, trying to find a CAI that will work with the TCS since the module with the ABS system is in the way and eliminates the MOROSO and K/N CAI systems that I've tried so far (good thing to have friends with LT1's!)
Last but not least, the car is going to get turned into a autocross/track car because I love to take turns - the car will see some drag time once the strip re-opens but not a whole lot - just to see how she does.
Plans?
Engine:
Stock casting heads to be re-worked for larger valves, CNC work and other goodies from my friends at phase 2 machine shop.
CC503 cam
1:6.1 roller rockers
hardened push rods + guide plates
basically, looking for about 350whp (of course, the more the better) reliably with being able to turn a bit over 6k reliably setting the rev limiter to 6400 rpms because the CC503 should make power to about 6200'ish I believe. (correct me if I'm wrong)
But before I get too crazy with the motor...
Suspension
Strano springs
Koni shocks
Strano sway bars
Energy suspension poly suspension kit
Welded 3 point subframe connectors
tubular control arms/torque arm/adjustable panhard bar and whatever various suspension pieces I decide to blow my money on
Corvette ZR1 wheels with some sticky R rated tires but for now I'll stick with my stockers and 265 series stuck on 'em.
ANNNNND finally...pictures, sorry for the links but I can't get flickr to cooperate with me at the moment.
