Alright guys, I have a bone stock 95 6 speed lt1 camaro. The lightest version made to my knowledge with no power options or t-tops. I am just curious as to what exactly I would need to bust into the high to mid 12's. I know gears and exhaust first. Just unsure on what gears to run also. With 4.10's would I lose a lot of top end? This is my daily driver so i'd like to have the set up compatible with my daily driving. Any suggestions? Thanks.
3.73 rear for a driveable 6 speed is a good choice of gears. All boltons, lt headers, good tune with a decent cam will get ya there. I expect 12's next time out. I have a baby cam and full boltons. I beat a 13 flat stang on the street this summer.
im an auto , but 4:10's and a stall with some stickies and i ran 12.9 out the gate...did some suspension and now 12.5...
Alright, I figured full bolt ons with a small cam would do it. Wasn't sure though. Thanks for the input guys!
As far as the cam choice the CC503 will be great.
4.10s would still be better then the 3.73 with a 6 speed. You can run either one no problem but you will not lose much top end with the 4.10s.
Nitto555Rs, some suspesion and mid 12s all day with a driver mod.
I went with 4.10s with my M6 and love them.
4.10 is ok but at hiway speeds even in 6th you will be turning higher rpms and less gas mileage. It all depends on what you are comfortable with.
4.10 is just rite in a m6 you can actually use 6th gear but I'm thinking about bumping up to a 4.30 it will make better use for me.
I drive about 30 miles for college everyday. Any idea on what the 4.10s cruise at when going about 65 mph? I really just don't want to regret getting them. I'm guessing 3.73s is what I will have to go with just to be safe.
When I had my 4.10s, 60mph was about 2500rpms... and I even my stroker/blower motor was pulling 25mpg on the highway...Quote:
