LT4 Starter
Where can I get an LT4? I want one for the high torque/smaller size but it seems like they're discontinued? I checked autozone and it says the 93 'vette starter is HEAVIER than the LT1 starter... I'm confused. Is there anywhere to get one locally without having to send away?
I guess the LT4=any vette starter, right?

95-97 uses the smaller higher torque starter u speak of, found in every lt1, ive even seen them in caprice roadmasters and impalas.

The Corvette starter is not the same as the one stock in B-bodies. Check with Autozone. Ask for any year LT Corvette. They were originally made by Denso in Japan.
Here's a link with a picture.

93/94 uses a slightly bigger starter then 95^ from what i noticed, and the solenoid is not replaceable, that's pretty cool about the vette starter never seen one of them before, i run a jegs high torque mini starter cranks up to like 16:1 compression or something ive had it since 2006 was like 130ish.

Well, I mean... does anyone have a link where I could buy the LT4/Corvette starter? I might just end up grabbing one from jegs I guess.
Edit: Or is the one linked above the correct one?

The story is I was going to my buddys last friday night. Car wouldn't even crank, I just heard a single click coming from the starter/solenoid. It took me like 5 tries to get it to turn over and run. Ran fine. Went to my friends, came out to start it about 4 hours later, gave me the same story, just wouldn't start at all. Got a ride home and came back to try after the weekend and it fired right up, so I took the opportunity to get it home. I have had the random single click problem probably 15 times prior to last weekend but thought nothing of it because it would start on the second try every time. My security light has been on for a long time, would this be the problem? Problem with the key? I got under the car today to make sure the wires were attached well and clean. And they were. The battery is about 12 years old, and the alternator has started making some rattling noises like its coming apart from the inside. I had this problem also when I had just installed the headers about 4 years ago. I ended up taking the battery to autozone to charge and it fired right up. Does this sound like the battery? I'm just trying to narrow things down as I'm a poor college kid and don't really have the money at the moment to swap out all three.

A vote for that advanced starter I bought. It works great. My old one looked like it was from WW1... it's the original.

Starts right up every time now and no need for shimming of any sort. I'm gonna see if it still works as well after its warm though in case the metal expands on the teeth or something.
