has antone ran a rocker stud girdle on an lt1?
I do
Which girdle, and does it fit under the "standard tall" valve covers?
I do too, I used some old SBC that I had laying around and modified them for centerbolt valve covers. I had to do a lot of trimming on the valve cover to get these under it and they still have to be pretty close to the top of the rocker to clear.
Thank you! It looks like you have tall valve covers, too. Are those the valve covers that barely clear the girdle?
I am running Billet Specialties tall covers.
yes, These took some milling to clear
I see. Well I'll have to see how my covers fare with the Summit girdle. The guy at Crower scared me into getting a girdle. He said when they test their rocker arms the studs flex like crazy, especially the 3/8" (of course), which is what I have.
He was cool and didn't try to sell me one of their girdles. He said, "Find a cheap one and please install it."
The Crower girdles cost over $250. The Summit girdle is $109.00
I've heard some guys say that the girdles made their engine seem "snappier." Probably more of a placebo effect than anything, but I don't know.
