cam choice
well i got my stall, headers, and gears. heres the plan: pull heads- have shaved, ported, valve job all that jazz, port intake, and throw in a cam. heres where i need help. in my 94 camaro i had the 503cc, i liked it alot but it just didnt have the monster sound i wanted but it made nice power without spinnin the poor thing to the moon. so im not sure if i want to go with that cam again or look for something more like the gm847. gm847 has the sound i want but i have heard u have to realy get the rmps up for it to do anything. so what do u guys think? btw stall is a fuddle 4000, gears are 3.73, and i have LT headers. car will be taken to the track afew times a year. other than that it mainly just idles around afew surrounding towns scaring ricers. thank you guys, im still new here and just wana say this site is awesome! and there are some lt1 gods on here :)

well what kinda power are you looking for? because if you are just looking for sound, put in a hot cam kit and be done with it.

just pull 2 plug wires if all you want is sound. not trying to come off as a dick. but i'm against buying a cam for sound. its like having a fine wine with a big mac. it should compliment what you have

if i had a 4000 stall i would run a raunchy as hell cam...and running a nasty cam you wont have to worry about what ur car sounds like

XFI 467 or 468, something similar from AI or LE with 236+ degrees.
FWIW I run the XFI 468 but I have my idle set to 900rpm. My car doesn't sound really nasty at all at that rpm. It drives a million times better with the idle set that way though, so i'm not complaining. 503 cams have cracked into the 10's many times with properly setup cars so the performance is there.

How "nasty" a cam sounds also depends on your exhaust setup. A cutout will increase the angry.
If your heads are coming off, just do a heads/cam package, like the AI 190cc's.
What kind of shape is your bottom end in? Mileage? Good oil pressure?

if u pull the vacuum line on ur brake booster, u will have a huge cam and it wills sound really fast. :rolleyes:
ever heard the saying buying a cam for sound is like having sex with a blow up doll?
