When Microsoft announced the free beta program for Windows 7, SoulReaver and I were quick to jump in and mess with the new OS. after being with the beta since the launch, the time has finally come where Windows will stop working for free in 10 days. I was fortunate enough to get two upgrade discs from my mother in law who has a university connection. Soul, on the other hand, not so much. At any rate, the discs arrived today and I have to being the arduous task of backing everything up and then re-installing windows. In theory, I could put in a new product key and just continue on with the beta, but the beta had an astounding number of bug fixes from the point of my installation to the release of the new OS.

Windows 7 has definitely been an amazing OS so far. I supported Vista, I didn't have the crazy errors other users were having. I actually thought it was a decent release, although it should have probably been a service pack in hindsight. Windows 7 is faster in every aspect and to this day, even on the betas, I have yet to have a random restart or some weird error screen. Now with the launch of Windows Phone 7 Series, I am starting to get excited at what Microsoft is doing. Let's face it, they have tons and tons and tons of money and for some reason they just kept putting out shit after shit release. It seems like they finally decided that releasing mundane products is putting them behind in the race. I'm glad the giant woke up, especially with Google becoming self-aware lately.

These next few years are going to be exciting if you are a tech junky. For now though, I have a fight ahead of me with this re-installation of Windows 7.

LTXTech 2.0 has officially been online for a full day now. There are a ton of changes that you guys have noticed, most of them are good and some aren't necessarily bad, but a new approach to things that may have been familiar to you. We had to disable all of our modifications that we've accumulated over the past year and a half, leading to some features missing. Those features certainly didn't make the site, but they are missed as they made things comfortable. We are working towards getting all of our old features back and also working on getting some new stuff implemented. Already, with the new version of vBulletin, you will notice improvements to many areas. Many of our old add-ons are now standard parts of vBulletin, which is great in the sense that there is no worry about them breaking something behind the scenes. Also take note of the newly revamped Member Profile and Group pages. Although these areas are still "under construction" for our forum, they are much more rounded out than in previous releases of vBulletin.

I also want to talk about some other changes we've made to LTXTech. Obviously the first thing that stands out immediately when you load the site is the new logo. SoulReaver is going to be uploading his work-log so you guys can see the progression he made from the beginning. It's a cool little writeup he did and is definitely worth the read, once the hump posts it of course. The logo is going to be replacing the old logo. Old stickers will be phased out for the new ones and we will begin selling badges, made by Emblem Pros. The emblems are very nice and will look awesome anywhere you put them. The cost of the emblems is not finalized and when it is we will make an announcement.

We also want to begin producing gear. Hats, T-Shirts, etc. Our delay was always pending upon the fact that we knew we wanted to rework our current logo. The timeline for that was unknown, but then a golden egg dropped. The release of vBulletin 4 was an opportunity for us to re-work some of the things we had felt were lacking on the original LTXTech as well as usher in the new logo. We were able to get a test site up and running and got most of the work for LTX 2.0 was completed on that test bed. Launching the new site will allow us to focus on the merchandise everyone has been wanting. Everything should look awesome with the new logo!

Now that the forum is up, and the loose ends are being tied up, I want everyone to just kind of relax and bear with me while I finish moving everything over and get the mods re-installed. It'll be a bit of time, but just like when the original LTXTech launched, it will be a gradual progression.

Thank you all for sticking with us, we value every registered user and every minute spent here. The community here is truly the backbone of the community.
