Was discussing with some friends about my sixxer camaro and how to launch it. What I'm curious in is how you guys launch your v8's with those t56's. Are you sidestepping the clutch, letting it out? I always thought side stepping the clutch was a huge no no, but it was brought up that it's better pop it, less likely to create hot spots, less slipping. But it's much harder on the trans and diff correct? And I assume that some of you guys would just blow the tires off in that case.

Just looking to you v8 guys for info, most of the sixxer guys ditch the t5 for the 4l60e, I'm refusing to do so since I like slamming gears. But there's not much info floating around on the v6 boards as a result, and I know there's some stupid fast v8's here running 6 speeds.

Curious what you guys run for clutches also, different application here, but still curious.

I'm not stupid fast but I launch using a 2-step and letting the clutch out as fast as I can. I had a Centerforce DF and have no complaints, last year and this year I'm using the Zoom HP series dual kevlar and still have no complaints.

I launch around 4000 currently. I do NOT sidestep it. IMO thats retarded and an awesome way to break shit.

I slide it out, but I do it very quickly. Kinda like letting it chase my foot up off the floor.

A 2-step and line lock help out quite a bit w getting it dialed in and consistent. You can bump it up as little as 100 rpm at a time til you get it where you want.

You can also slightly preload the drivetrain this way to reduce shock on everything...

My method is a little harder on the clutch, yes, but clutches are a wear item that are designed to be replaceable.

I have some kind of valero clutch my buddy had in the car when I bought it. I will eventually be moving to a mcleod street twin w light weight flywheel.

A buddy runs the spec 3+ and it bites hard but its too grabby for me. I like something you can modulate a little off the line to keep the tires hooked up and keep from shocking the drivetrain. A twin is ideal for this.

I'm curious how that zoom performs. I like zoom alot and wanted to try that clutch. You running it w stock PP or the zoom? Grabby, pretty smooth, get hot and fade?

I dont know the terms that yall are using but what I do is I push the clutch all the way in and rev till like 2,500 or so.
Then I just release the clutch and floor the gas pedal all the way at the same time.
Not sure if thats the proper way to do it but no one ever showed me, I learned to drive stick on my own.

Line lock is a kit that electronically locks your front brakes down so you can do a burnout without holding the brakes

2 step is a system that holds your car at a certain launch rpm regardless how far down you press the peddle, until you let out the clutch.

I dont think you can compair a V6 with a T5 to a V8 with a T56. I think launching like I do, would destroy a T5 fast. As a matter of fact you cant even power shift a T5 the same way you can a T56. Feels like your gonna break shit.
I also use a 2step set around 4500-5k and quickly release the clutch while letting off the button.

Wish there was an affordable way to do a 2-step on a six, so far the only way I know how is using a dis-4 box, and those have bad reviews up and down the wall both sides.

The launch techniques being mentioned in here are basically how I'm running it now, and I do power shift the T5 in all gears, except for my 2nd-3rd shift (it'll kill 3rd if I do that, an it's tough to do without missing). I just wanted to hear some opinions from some experienced people to verify my thoughts. Thanks y'all.
