With my current exhaust setup (!cats), my AIR pump is no longer required, and it has malfunctioned. I am trying to turn the SES light off, and am seeing if i could simply use a resistor to make the pump appear to be "in operation" but not actually have to work. I really dont feel like spending $110 for a new AIR pump if I can get it to atleast fool the pcm into thinking it works.:hmm:

I do know that you can tune it out of the computer with selections such as PCM4less, but with the winter build coming it seems pointless to do a tuning now, and THEN when the upgrades come

Does anyone know the resistance I would be looking at using to get the job done?

just put the fuse back in. i pulled mine off and left the fuse in there and no light!

The "malfunction" i was speaking of comes from where it was driven with it out for so long. The internals of the pump were taken apart and cleaned of rust and corrosion, but it still didnt help. It continues to blow ANY fuse I put in at this point. The resistor idea was the best I could come up with.

Wait, I reread what you said, and I might have misunderstood...

Unplug the pump, but leave the actual fuse in? What about the relay? Leave it in too? This might be a step in the right direction actually.

Since there are no O2 sensors after the normal catalytic converter location, the computer wouldn't be reading for changes in gases, but rather that the pump is recieving an actual electrical current, via the fuse and/or relay. Does that make any sense or have I just had too long of a day at work? rofl

I'll have to try it out tomorrow. I was trying to get it to work today, and ended up blowing an entire box of fuses >.< I'll have to grab another box from my shop in the morning lol.

Absolutely! It was down to a 96 TA or a 95 Formula, and that was a big selling point for me haha.

Sweeeeet, ty for the help. It actually worked. Relay AND fuse are in, but no air pump on the vehicle...SES light stays out. You rock dude!
