Ok well let me thank you for taking the time to read my post. Well I bought a centerforce dual friction clutch about two years and had it installed by a very good shop. The car has never seen the track but has seen several street races. The clutch has a little under 6,000 miles on it and is starting to slip. Is this about right for the life span? Or could I have something else failing that is causing the clutch not to engage fully? The car has only 400hp the clutch is suppose to hold 800 figured it would last longer. Any info or input would be great

I guess it is also going to depend on your driving style... I have one in my car that I installed when the stock motor was still in it.... then the boosted 383 beat on it for a little till that motor FAILED, and now I have about 5,000 miles on my boosted 383+ motor......

I am real easy on the clutch and I have nearly NEVER beat on it ; }

did you install a new flywheel or get old one resurfaced when the clutch was installed?

well i can tell you that the centerforce df was the first thing i put in when i first got the car. about 2 years later my throwout bearing goes. i went to put in my clutch one day, and it wouldn't depress. turns out that centerforce puts STOCK TOs in these things, nothing heavy duty about them, and i'm not even pushing 300 hp here, and the lip almost broke completely off.
so, i wouldnt rule out the clutch in this matter, unless you grinded down your flywheel

I have the stock flywheel installed (professionally Resurfaced) not my first choice, it's a long story ---- Tried to save a buck went through a discount warehouse seller that sent me the wrong flywheel. Couldn't wait for the replacement so just had the stock refaced, bad move?

If you don't have access to a lift.... pull the trans and look... its the only way to know for sure.... and our M6s are easy......
-secure car on jack stands
-unplug battery
-remove shifter knob
-disassemble and remove center consol
-unbolt shifter from tranny
-DRAIN TRANNY FLUID
-support tranny with floor tranny jack
-support motor under oil pan with block of wood on a jack
-drop driveshaft
-drop cross member
-support rear end under front of pumpkin for next step
-remove torque arm
-remove starter
-remove dust cover from bell housing
-remove slave cylinder
-disengage clutch fork from throwout bearing
-unplug tranny wire harness
-unbolt tranny from bellhousing and remove with floor tranny jack and a friend
-unbolt bellhousing.... walaaaa

done this several times in my drive way under the car with one other person there to help me balance the tranny at time of removal and install. this last time took 4 days. can be done in 3 if your not lazy about it. also a good time to check rear main seal, pilot bearing, and tranny input and output shaft seals. install is exactly the same just in reverse, EXCEPT remember to line up the clutch fork over the throw out bearing while putting the tranny back in and when you have all the hydrolics installed immidately check the clutch and if it does not work do not force it, shit will break, just use normal pressure to check it to make sure it disengages, dont wait til the end when everything is bolted back up and you go to drive away.

just pull the inspection cover and look at the flywheel for discoloration if its glazing the clutch is smoked
