For N/A use : NGK TR55
Personally I use a NGK TR6 due to the spray.

Yep, same here. Always heard good things about them. They're pretty much THE recommended plug for N/A LT1s, from what I have seen.

I was using the TR55s until I put the nitrous on my car. Now they're TR6s. Those plugs in the picture are more than likely not worth the money. Reminds me of the Bosch Platinum 4s (or whatever they were) that people were so crazy about.

MANY people found problems with those plugs (cracking etc..) if you do a google search you will find multiple problems with them

Since everyone so far use NGK's i'll be the different one and use Autolite 104. A decent plug for spary and you can't be the price.

TR55 FTW!

Boostin' Ain't Easy

TR6 because of boost.

I love when people tell me they put pre-gapped plugs in their car.

I kind of feel bad for 'em.

I wanted to try the E3 plugs just to see if they were a gimmic or not.

I was gonna install them when I did my header install, but I forgot. I'm not gonna try to install new plugs underneath edelbrock headers unless I absolutley have to.

E3 = Gimmick plug. So does Bosch Plat +2, +3, and +4. Waste of money.

TR55's for N/A cars, TR6 for your typical Spray or Boosted cars (or equilavent from Autolite, they've got good plugs too).

TR 55 users, platinum or iridium tip ? what do you guy's run?
also what is the part #?

Since this forum is new, I guess we need to get the subjective "which oil/filter/spark plug is best" stuff out of the way so we can tell people to run a search. ;)

+1

I've used Autolite in my LT1 for the past 6 years or so -- I really like them. They're cheap, you don't have to worry about platinum pucks falling off and opening up the gap, nor do you have those stupid screw-on wire terminals which can loosen up. I end up replacing plugs once a year anyway just for shits and giggles, but they seem to run really well.

Everyone recommends the NGK TR55's, but my car didn't seem to like them back in the day. Maybe I got a faulty set. Only tried them once.

Exactly. I don't understand what people are thinking. There's only going to be one spark even if there are four electrodes. The extra electrodes are only serving to shield the spark from the fuel. I guess people think it's equivalent to putting four spark plugs in there?

I just use the platinum
NGK Part #3951

Iridium plugs are 6 times harder, 8 times stronger and have a higher melting point than platinum. thus good for nitrous...

NGK TR55s here as well. AC Delco Platinum is a good plug too. I wouldn't put any plug in my car I couldn't gap.

I know this is a REALLY old thread

But I wonder what people's opinion is about these now

Supposedly there is dyno numbers out there proving these to be a better plug

They showed on Hot Rod TV them testing these in an engine dyno

Of course I am VERY sceptical

NGK BF6 here for spray

I ran Autolite 104's in my H/C Camaro, and I'll probably go with AC Delco Platinums for anything else. I just can't see justifying spending $7 a plug for iridiums.

I have AC delcos right now. I don't see much advantage with the E3 plugs when I really looked at them.

yea i've been told the older the engine is, the less it will get along with a plug like this. these newer cars need platinum and iridiums so they can run efficiently. older engines, not so much.
the e3 plugs, at $15 per, are not worth it imo.
go with what works, plats, or v grooves.
especially if they're a bitch to change.

I used TR55's for awhile but switched to Autolite 104's recently as recommended by LE and Ed Wright. Both are cheap and work fine. To me the E3 is another gimmick plug like the Bosh +4, and the old Splitfires!

Hotrod TV is also PAID by these companies that their products are shown. So if someone sponsors you, you better have good things to say about them. They are a gimmick plain and simple.

Yea that was exactly Why I am skeptical, BUT I had the same point of view with the K&N's and that turned out to be a good thing

so not always are gimmicks equivalent to junk, I was just looking for some empirical data, aka independent dyno numbers

I would like to see the "emperical data" as well. Seems there is a LOT of opinion floating around here. For those who run NGK TR55's and are complaining the Platinum +2/3/4 plugs (or even the E3 plugs for that matter) shroud the electrode, I wonder how many of them index their plugs? If you don't, you are shrouded as well. Definitely not saying there is anything wrong with the NGK's, just saying opinions are like butt holes: everybody has one and they all stink. Give me some cold hard data.
